Have you considered given your garden an architectural touch? Then, lean to conservatory is a great way to embellish your house, protect your plants and flowers from sunlight and having a relaxing time of leisure inside it. A conservatory is pretty much like a greenhouse with glass walls held with metal or wood posts.

The great thing about conservatories is that you do not need to have lots of money to have a stylish garden as you see in the magazines. You can start your diy conservatory project if you have building, gardening and décor skills to have a conservatory exactly as you want and with exact facilities you need.

There are two very beautiful conservatory styles that are very in nowadays the Georgian and Victorian conservatories.

Georgian conservatory style gathers features of Greek and Roman architecture, because it was during this period that started in the 18th century during the reign of King George IV, many Greek and Roman ruins were discovered; thus, architects of this period took elements of these classic schools along with British techniques.

Georgian conservatory designs are identified for their red bricks, courses, white-stoned cornices and trimming of white painted woodwork. The building of conservatories was started by the Dutch, who with the aim to protect plants from the hard weather. Then this trend passed to Great Britain where the building of conservatories massively flourished.

Since most part of America’s culture has British roots, it is not surprising seeing many constructions in Georgian style. Therefore, if your house was build inspired in this architectural school or it has some elements of it, then a Georgian conservatory is the most suitable choice.

Another British inherited style is the Victorian. This style is gaining more terrain nowadays, since the conservatories inspired in this style, usually characterized for its abundant and cluttered look, take the best of it and give it the openness and freshness that are necessary to a living space as a conservatory.

For building up a Victorian conservatory, the house must have a similarity in style to the Victorian and their owners have to be willing to maintain and take care of the consistency of this type of architecture that is not an easy subject to remodeling. For this reason, hiring a professional architect and/or designer specialized in this style is a necessary must.
