My personal experience to learn any foreign language is to visit that foreign land and to buy travelers kit (one of those Lonely Planet books) for that country. Walking inside the country you want to know more about makes to feel more involved and then you will be able to absorb more about that nation. Then, your basic travel guide and interactivity with local people makes you learn the lingo more easily, and thoroughly. Although there are few things before you step on this land of romantic language as follows:

Check your mate!
Before your visit to France ‘and’ learn French in France, you must be clear in your purpose of learning the lingo. If you want to learn French for business and professional purpose, it is recommended to include your colleague who is fluent in speaking French, or hiring a translator would be the best option. And if you are lucky, and/or graceful (and charming) enough then you might make some good professional friendship with French localities, which will help you understand not only the business but the French culture too.

If you want to learn French for personal enrichment and embrace French culture and language, it is best to move not in your representative country group but preferably someone very close to you, like your spouse maybe!

Be Receptive!
Make sure you interact a lot. Make sure you go places and visit the very locals of France. Make sure you get the most out of your stay in France. The more you plunge into the foreign culture, the more you will be able to grasp and surprisingly, you get to learn the pure French accent, which is the toughest part to learn any language. You need to start enjoying French food, clothing, shopping, historical places and the most talked about, the French kiss!

Be Graceful!
Sharing my personal experience while living in Germany, and other European countries, including France, it is very important that you must learn to respect the foreign land. Local French will help you; provide you all the resources up to his/her limits, but you must learn to greet them gracefully. Some people might not accept you, if you try too hard to learn the correct accent of French. It is very important that you do not hurt someone’s feelings, so be careful and be ready to apologies!

Do your homework!
Learning French in France will become easy, if you are prepared. Learning more and more words related to: start a conversation, asking for directions, buying food and snacks, shopping, like buying clothes and bargaining, ordering for French food in a restaurant or a bar etc. will give you a jump start to actually involve in learning French in France.

When learning French in France you should do your research first. You can learn French in around 3 months before you go to France.
