There are so many different styles of centerpieces to choose from. The type of flowers you choose will often dictate the style of the arrangement. The theme and color scheme of your wedding will be a big factor in what flowers you choose. You don't have to just have flowers, there are some wonderful combinations of flowers and fruits and this can be a way to get just the right colors too. Your wedding florist or wedding planner will be able to guide you in this area.

Remember the arrangement should be low enough for your wedding guests to "chat over" or high enough for them to "talk under". The centerpiece should never block your guests view, when your guests are seated, their head height should be a clear way view for them.

If you are working on a tight budget, sometimes the table centerpieces are often included with the wedding reception venue costs. This is always a question you should ask when enquiring about costings. If they are included then the next question should be how much choice you have and if you don't like the choice, are you able to organize your own arrangements and how much will the reduction in costs to you be.

There are wedding equipment hire companies that will hire out containers and if you want a dramatic impact at your reception, then you may be able to go for a stunning container that needs not much in the flower department to get the WOW factor. Often times with flowers less can be more.

You can always opt to make up your own bridal centerpieces, keep the theme simple if you're not artistic, try three single stem vases on each table, clear always looks best, with a clean stem flower in each, a tulip, gerbera, orchid, rose. On a round or square table, group them in the center with a candle between or if you have rectangle tables, then place them down the center line and put a candle between each and at each end. Remember the head height rule for the size of the vases.

Spaghetti jars lend themselves to so many options for centerpieces. You can have them filled with colored glass pebbles to match your wedding color scheme, then have flowers arranged at the top to cascade down, fill them with colorful potpourri, colored water with a floral decoration on top or even a candle with ribbons trailing down.

If you don't want flowers, then ask your florist to do some exotic fruit arrangements, or pyramids of lemons, limes or oranges or a combination of all three. Remember for a fun look, balloons floating above your wedding reception tables can look fantastic. These are held by special weights and can be color matched to your theme. This is often a less expensive centerpeice. You can have the balloons added to your floral centepiece too. If you think you might like this idea, then contact a balloon decorator, they are very artistic people and have some wonderful ideas, you will be amazed at what they will come up with.

A piece of advice, when you are dealing with artistic, creative people, don't try to restrict them too much, when you first consult with them, give then a free reign to come up with ideas for you, give them the details of your theme, your color scheme, flowers you like, the style of church/wedding ceremony venue, bridal reception room/marque, see what they come up with for you. Even if you have definite ideas, keep them to yourself to start with. Mostly these people are very creative and love nothing better than a challenge and to do something new.

Many florists will do balloons and balloon decorators will do flowers. Often times they will work together too.

You are only limited by your imagination and if your imagination happens to be limited, then ask for ideas, your family, your florist, your wedding planner will all throw their ideas into the hat, then you can sort through and decide which you would like best.

Remember, with all that is placed on the wedding reception tables these days, keep this in mind when choosing your centerpieces. The 'less is more' often works best.
