You will rarely find a person who is totally satisfied with the shape and size of his nose. There are also many people who have acquired a misshapen nose due to some accident they may have suffered from. Even more unfortunate are those who are born with some nasal defect that prevent them from breathing easily. If you happen to suffer from any one of these problems, all is not lost, as you can consider undergoing a nose job, otherwise know as rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty is a rather simple cosmetic procedure that is performed on millions of patients all across the USA every year. But you should be adequately informed about the surgery before taking the final decision. Here are tips to get you well prepared for your rhinoplasty procedure.

Plan your rhinoplasty surgery well, so that you get the best result from it. You should communicate clearly to your doctor your expectation from the surgery. After evaluating the structure of your nose and face, the rhinoplasty surgeon may lay down different options before you. Discuss each possibility with your doctor thoroughly. There are several factors that may affect the results. The most important of these factors are face cutting, the nasal bone structure and structure of the cartilage, the type of your skin and your age. Your expectation is another important factor that may influence the procedure and its outcome.

At this stage you have to be clear about the type of anesthesia to be used and the technique to be employed. Also ask him about the rhinoplasty cost and the facilities to be used at the clinic. Rhinoplasty is generally not covered by insurance. But if the procedure is performed to correct your breathing problem, then the costs will be covered by insurance. So it is important to contact your insurer prior to the operation.

During the planning stage you should also inform the rhinoplasty surgeon about any previous nose surgery or any nasal injury you may have had. Also let your nose doctor know if you suffer from allergies or breathing difficulties. Do not forget to keep him informed about the medicines or vitamins, or any other drugs that you are currently consuming.

After you and the doctor have agreed upon the date for the rhinoplasty operation, the doctor will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for the surgery. The instruction includes guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications. There are also specific instructions relating to face wash. You should carefully follow this set of instructions.

Another important aspect of preparation is to arrange with somebody to drive you back home after the surgery. It would be even better if you can also arrange for someone to come and stay with you for a few days after the surgery.
