You've got communication problems that require solutions and unfortunately, those solutions aren't going to waltz up to you while you sit at your desk and twiddle your thumbs. Online research is your buddy when it comes to picking a good conferencing provider. To figure out which internet or phone conferencing provider will benefit your business the most, you'll need to do the following:

Surf the web.

Your ideal web-based conferencing company will have a nice, professional-looking website. What kind of a web-based business doesn't know how to design a commerce site?

Get several conference call price quotes.

So the website's flashy and the price looks okay, but what do you have to compare it to? You wouldn't buy a $300.00 pair of shoes without first checking to see if you could get the same ones for $150.00: check to see if the conference service price is a comfortable fit.

Do your homework.

Research your possible new conferencing phone service like they're potentially the next babysitter for your kids. Check out their FAQ section too, as you'll get more insight to the company.

Interrogate the potential provider.

Talk to a customer service representative and see if they can give you comparison conferencing web prices. Find out how long they've been in business. Request any client feedback, reviews or reference that the company has available. Find out if they can give you a call center conference demo.

You might think that's it and now you're guaranteed to end up with the best conference service provider on the face of the planet, but if you want to be really thorough, know the answers to the following questions:

1) What size meetings will you likely be hosting?

2) What is the average number of participants you expect to attend each meeting?

3) How often will you be hosting meetings? Once every fall? Several times during year-end crunchtime?

4) What kind of features are you looking for? Do you want straight phone to phone calling, or web-based service with video capabilities? Will you be sharing files with other users?

5) Do you need an operator to assist with meetings, or will you be designating someone on staff?

6) What kind of cash are you looking to spend?

When you finally get around to choosing a provider, don't worry: there are hundreds of conferencing companies to choose from. Also, be warned. There are unscrupulous companies out there that will pad their bills any way possible and you don't want to be the next big sucker. But as long as you know your stuff ahead of time and be prepared to interview lots of possible providers, you'll soon be on your way to communicating with greater ease.
