If you decide to put plants in your home you need to do your homework. Your priority is to know what plants go outside and which ones go inside.

Inside plants require attention just like children. Plants are living so treat them as such. It is no different than having a pet in your home. There is a responsibility to the care and nurturing of living things.

Outside plants require planting in a place that is suitable for sun, shade, soil, water, etc. to grow and flourish. How much time and energy do you want to spend on them? You may see someone else's landscape and you want that. Your landscape is not the same. You need to choose the plants that are good for your home and soil.

Plants for the outside are usually Annuals or Perennials, which mean they blossom once a year (annual) and every year (perennials). The scrubs and trees need to consider the height and root growth. They are going to be growing for a long time and you need to know where the roots are going.

For plants inside your home, you need to have knowledge of the plant, sunlight exposure, humidity or lack of humidity. If you have air conditioning it usually keeps the temperature comfortable for the plants. It is the monitoring of dry soil and direct sunlight that can harm your plants. Spraying the leaves is a refreshing drink.

Dryness with force air heat can be a problem. Most furnaces have a humidifier attached but there is still dryness in the air. Especially in places where there is snow in the winter. Keep your plants away for cold windows but do try to get sunlight to them if you can. Winter often has sunlight you can capture through the window pane.

A good treatment for your plants is to wash the leaves of greens with water to remove the dust. They look better and feel better. A wet cotton ball works wonders.

A good source of information is a local landscaper. Check for one online or visit your local nursery. Before you buy anything, know what is best for the plant for success.
