To market your products effectively, you need a comprehensive strategy to advertise what you want to sell. Joining an affiliate program is definitely one of the best ways to accomplish this. For some of us, we would rather do the affiliating on our own! The good news is - you can start your own affiliate program to market your products on the internet.

Let’s look at how this can be done.

Firstly, find out what websites on the internet that is offering the type of traffic that you would want to buy your product. For e.g., surely you wouldn't want to contact a website that discusses about recipes when you are selling utility tools. You need to match like for like and create a list of potential affiliate marketers.

Once you have your list of potential affiliate marketers, the second step is to produce a solid sales letter to the webmaster of these sites. When you do this, be sure to include all of the selling points for your proposal, and information on what commission you are offering for sales generated by them. Proofread the letter carefully, as this is your one chance for a good impression. Then, send the letters out.

Finally, once you've signed on some affiliate marketers, you'll need an affiliate software to keep track of the sales generated, and how much commission you need to pay. Remember, you are responsible for preparing the commission payout checks and sending them to the affiliates. Of course, you can enlist the services of a third party affiliate tracker.

The obvious advantage of running your own affiliate marketing operation to sell your products is that it gives you the control over where and how the advertisements are placed, and over who will be directing traffic to your site.

Follow these steps and you could be laughing your way to the bank soon!
