Dollywood is nestled at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Pigeon Forge. The theme park covers 125 acres and has nearly 2.2 million visitors a year. It is a highly themed park showcasing the history and preservation of the Smoky Mountains.

Dollywood has unique rides, award winning entertainment, great food and master craftsman demonstrations including blacksmithing, glass blowing, wood carving and much more! The park is always adding new thrilling rides and is home to the award winning $7 million Thunderhead wooden roller coaster!

The park is separated into different sections with a unique theme. Each section of the park has many shows and rides to amuse kids from 6 to 60 years old!

Timber Canyon

Timber Canyon has a logging camp town theme. Home to the Thunderhead roller coaster, voted “Best Wooden Roller Coaster in the World”!

Rivertown Junction

Here you can see a replica of Dolly’s childhood home. There are many craftsmen unique to the Smoky Mountains. You’ll fill your tummies with many places serving up some good ole country vittles!

Jukebox Junction

In Jukebox Junction you can enjoy the Smoky Mountains in the 50’s! The music of the 50’s fills the air and the atmosphere takes you back to a more innocent time.
The Village

The Village is the area of the park that is home to the infamous Dollywood Express Train. It is an authentic 110 ton coal fired steam train.

Craftsman Valley

Many craftsmen are featured here including glass blowers, candle makers, wood carvers and hand crafted carriages. There is an eagle mountain sanctuary which is America’s largest presentation of non releasable bald eagles.

Showstreet

This area features the main street of the park with many shops to browse and most of the customer service areas. This is also the home of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Country Fair

It’s like going to your local county fair. This part of the park is loaded with games and rides replicated from the fair. And don’t forget the cotton candy and funnel cakes!

Adventures in Imagination

This area is highlighted by a museum dedicated to the life of Dolly Parton.

Dollywood is also home to five of the South’s largest festivals.

Festival of Nations – Takes place in April

For five weeks, Dollywood transforms into a cultural event center. Performers from all over the world come to the Smoky Mountains to show off their skills for your enjoyment. Be ready to experience the fabulous foods from other countries and purchase handcrafted items from an international marketplace.

Dollywood Kidsfest – Takes Place in the Summer

Join the 7 week celebration of our youth. There are many shows, rides and activities with the children in mind. From the smallest kids to the teenagers, there will be plenty to do during summer vacation!

Bluegrass and Barbeque Festival – Last two weeks of September

Enjoy the musical sounds of the Smoky Mountains with some of the biggest stars of Bluegrass music. You’ll also be delighted to the true home sounds of some of the most talented local artists. And if you love BBQ, you’ve come to the right place. Enjoy BBQ foods from all over the country in a mouth watering experience!

National Gospel & Harvest Celebration - Month of October

Autumn is a beautiful time of the year in the Smoky Mountains. It is also beautiful for the spirit of faith as the most popular names in gospel and Christian music come to Dollywood. Enjoy the bright colors of the foliage while browsing through a large arts and crafts show.

Smoky Mountain Christmas - November & December

A Smoky Mountain Christmas is a dream come true. Of all the festivals, this is the “don’t miss” festival if you can make it one year! This old fashion holiday celebration features over 3.5 million lights in a spectacular showcase of the holiday spirit. There are many Christmas shows to enjoy including a stage production of “Babes in Toyland”. You will definitely leave the park with the true Christmas spirit in your heart!

No matter what time of the year you come to Dollywood, your family is guaranteed to have a great time! The park schedule and times vary to the time of the season, so be sure to check the schedule for the dates of your stay. Also admission rates vary by age and time of year. Discount tickets are hard to find unless you get them through a vacation package or your AAA membership. Periodically the park will run a promotion with a local vendor. For example, one year we received a $5 discount from a Coca Cola can. Beware of the folks that approach you with the offer of free tickets to Dollywood. They usually represent a local time share corporation that is soliciting folks to attend a presentation at the resort. If this is something you are interested in, the opportunities will be provided to you!
