Judging from the amount of people who are using websites to find dates, it would be pretty amazing if only a small number of those people were taking it completely seriously. Why would people pay a lot of money every month for a service that is helping them meet potential soul mates, but only use the website as some sort of entertainment? It might sound a bit silly, but that is what a vast majority of the people who use these websites are doing. They are not actually looking for a soul mate — they are just playing online dating games.

If they were not paying heaps of money for access to the website, it might be more plausible that flirting with the other members of the website would be the extent of the contact being established between the members of the website. However, since they pay so much money to use the website, where is the logic in only using it for entertainment purposes?

The problem is that when you meet somebody through a singles website, you can not tell right away if they are interested in playing or if they are interested in meeting someone special.

It becomes the job of the searcher to look for profiles in which the person behind the profile seems somewhat serious and, literally, doesn’t seem like a player. If the profile looks like the profile of a player, the person behind the profile is probably more interested in online dating games than in meeting someone. If your intentions do not match, you might want to browse onward.

There are many websites that already exist for the purpose of matching up singles based on interests, age, and any other criteria you can put into their search engine. In fact, there are so many of these websites that it can be difficult to choose which one you should join. None of them offer a guarantee that 100% of their users are truly looking for love and not entertainment, but still, some sites are better than others.
