Usually those things that we use to decorate an oriental style home are very colorful and ornate in color and design. Oriental tradition touches can be seen throughout these pieces. These pieces can be sometimes found on walls in the form of artwork, displayed like statues, or other ornamental pieces, even artistic designs can be seen in the pieces of furniture placed around ones house.

In the oriental tradition, display of artwork is done usually in a set of three panel pieces. There is variation in what is on display on the panels, but mostly it is very bright and traditional. Ample use of gold, red, and black are to be seen in this type of artwork. In the oriental tradition, large, wall-sized fans are also used for decoration. The displayed artwork does vary, but the colors usually are mostly similar to those used in panel paintings. It is important that the Oriental home have clean lines, so the walls enhance this atmosphere by being painted either in white or light beige colors. Such walls are lined at the base by wood grained shoe molding and tidy around doorways of the house. This adds to the clean lines effect displayed all over the house.

You will hardly find anything useless. Most things would be well chosen with great taste. It is not necessary that all Oriental pieces should be red, black, or gold. There are many in yellows, blacks, and blues also, but afore mentioned ones are more traditional. Traditional colors can be found in many of the stuffs that are strewn around the home. The few chosen ones will compliment one another. Excessive plants are a rarity. Orchids are a popular choice for Oriental style of decorating, though green plants are appropriate also. It is difficult to maintain an orchid, so many might choose simple ivy instead.

Other than fans and panels, artwork, compliments the color schemes of the knickknacks on display. This compliments the golden of a statue or the red sprinkled all over the dinner plate. Too much color in any artwork is avoided; it is usually simple, as everything that has been discussed before.

The Oriental home is a clean and harmonious whole displaying cleanliness through undisturbed lines all over the home. Clutter is kept away in such homes. The pieces show great taste. The home become a piece of artwork by itself and brings about peace and serenity to those inhabiting it.
