Spring Break Vacations are often the most memorable experience a student has during his four years at a university. Once they graduate, they often loose touch with many of their friends. Many of their friends move hundreds of miles away. They take jobs that keep them from attending events planned by their college friends. For this reason, a spring break trip is often the last time your college friends will be able to take a vacation together.

The question is this. Will your spring break vacation memories be positive or negative? Some college students say it’s the most fun they have ever had, others say it was a nightmare beyond belief. How can you make sure your spring break vacation is a positive experience? A few simple steps will increase your odds dramatically.

Step 1: Don’t invite troublemakers on the trip. He or she may be fun at parties, but they often cause major problems for you and your friends on a spring break trip. They often cause an entire room to loose their damage deposits. Make sure you don’t find yourself in a room with the troublemaker. He or she will usually be the first to pay you for his or her portion for the trip, but in the end will cost you money and grief.

Step 2: Get to the airport or cruise port early. These days, most airlines require you check in three hours prior to departure. Passport verification takes a little longer so you must arrive earlier than in the past. Its spring break, lines will be long. Spring break cruises often involve more students. The cruise ships often hold several thousand students vs. an airplane that seats several hundred. For this reason, you must also get to the cruise port early to avoid possible problems.

Step 3: Don’t include a ritzy hotel in your spring break package. The more upscale hotels have stricter policies concerning spring break students. A damage deposit per person is almost always guaranteed. If you are loud and rowdy, they often inform the local authorities and/or eject you from your room. They are much less tolerant of your behavior. Pick a low to mid-range hotel. They need the business and are usually more tolerant of spring break students since more college students stay there year after year due to the cheaper price.

Step 4: Don’t loose those passports. Put them in the hotel safe before the drinking and partying starts. You loose your passport and you’re not getting back in the country.

Step 5: Do not party in or around your room or hotel property. This is by far the most important step. Party at the beaches, clubs, and bars only. Don’t bring it back to the hotel room or hotel property.

By learning from past mistakes, future spring break students can have a much more positive spring break experience.
