Wood is the material that popular for manufacturers to make outdoor furniture, meanwhile many home owners are really appreciated the quality of wooden furniture products. Even though wood is the natural material that very sensitive to external condition such as moisture and changes in temperature and humidity but wood still popular for its appearance and texture, which make your house decoration looks beautiful and luxurious. As mentioned above that wood is very sensitive to changes of external condition, so it need extreme care and maintenance in correct way in order to keep them always in good condition and long lasting, especially outdoor wood furniture, which they are outside the house and risk to extreme changes of weather and temperature.

However, there are plenty types of wood that popular for outdoor furniture and of course they need different method of care and maintenance. The following detail will give you some ideas on what types of wood that makes outdoor furniture and how to take a good care of them.

Teak
Teak is the type of wood that quite popular for outdoor furniture. I can say that it would be the most desirable one among home owner and it is perhaps the most expensive wood as well. Due to its appearance, light-honey colour tone, which always give the feeling of soft and relax and the unique characteristics that the resistance of many condition and contains natural oils which make it maintain constant moisture of the texture and this make it long lasting. Teak is probably the material that most easy-maintenance because teak itself can last for about 50 years for minimum. Even though teak is easy to maintenance and requires less attention than any other type of wood but it is a very good idea to clean it constantly (should be every 6 months) in order to remove unwanted stuff that may stick on the wood surface such as any build up of pollen, sap, or mildew. For some of home owner who has more money they can buy coating agent to apply on the teak surface to keep the wood surface shining and maintain moisture inside the texture.

Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is the hardwood that also popular for outdoor furniture because they are a lot cheaper than teak and many of home owners who have limited budget can afford it. The characteristics of Eucalyptus are almost the same as teak wood, which are beautiful and have great resistance to external condition. But what makes Eucalyptus become even more popular than teak wood is the price. This is because Eucalyptus takes less time to grow and harvest than teak, which requires about 30-40 years growing and harvesting. Therefore the supply of Eucalyptus are a lot higher than teak and make it become cheaper.

Proper way to clean outdoor wood furniture
No matter you have outdoor wood furniture that made from any types of wood. They require constant maintenance and cleaning. You should clean wood furniture at least once a year. Simple cleaning agent can be made easily by using one spoon of bleach and one spoon of dish washing liquid and mix all of them with one gallon of water. Then apply to the wood surface with soft bristle brush. There are special cleaning agent available in the market so you can save your time and make sure that you have effective cleaning but this only suitable for people who have some budget, otherwise, using material you already have is a better option.
