If you want something to last, you have to be willing to put in the investment. Nothing good comes cheaply. The same goes for your teak patio furniture. If you are going to have good quality patio furniture, you're going to have to be willing to make the investment. It doesn't matter what style, color, materials or whatever you're looking for, you'll find it among the sets of premium furniture.

Choosing a style for your teak patio furniture is certainly an important step. However, it might not be the first place to begin when choosing your patio furniture. The best place to begin might be in deciding which teak furniture pieces you want to begin your collection with. Often times, this will determine the selection of styles that are available. Quality patio furniture begins with teak wood, but there are other choices. These include hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or ebony. Teak is probably the best bet out of these to use for teak patio furniture because it is produced in limited quantities during the year and has a long growth cycle. So why should you choose teak patio furniture over perhaps some less expensive options you might have been looking at?

First, let's take a look at the heart of furniture. What truly is behind a good piece of teak patio furniture - it's the wood. So what is special about Teak, in particular, that makes it such a high quality wood? Well you have to begin with the teak oil. What is teak oil? Teak oil is the oil that naturally flows through a teak tree. It's naturally water repellant, so this translates into natural water protection for your premium teak patio furniture. Some of this is lost when the tree is cut because it is not replenished every year with the sap flow. However, because teak has such highly compacted oil content, it can keep its repellent nature for many years against water, bugs and normal drying rot that plagues most outdoor furniture.

There are a variety of types of teakwood. All teak is grown in humid and tropical environments of South East Asia. Of the various types of teak grown in this area, the best one and most sought after one is Indonesian. If you choose teak for your patio furniture, especially if you are choosing premium teak patio furniture over a standard grade of teak wood, proper maintenance will keep the warm yellow brown that premium teak outdoor furniture has. Even among other premium woods, teak stands out above the rest in durability, longevity and quality. If you are going to make the investment in having quality patio furniture, premium teak patio furniture is the way to go.
