There is never a shortage of memorable Torrevieja sightseeing when visiting this popular vacation destination. Torrevieja offers museums, festivals, parks, history and so much more. The city’s festivals are a particularly memorable experience in Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca region. Festivals are held all year around, but regardless of when you visit Torrevieja, Spain, you will surely find something to enjoy during your stay.

The city is located about eighteen to nineteen miles south east of Alicante, or about thirty kilometers, on Costa Blanca’s southern tip. It is now a popular tourist attraction, but was originally a small village known for salt production and fishing. It’s salt baths are still popular among tourists. The beautiful weather definitely contributes to the city’s popularity among tourists. The outdoors can be enjoyed during any season, making golf vacations especially popular in the area.

Museums are popular Torrevieja sightseeing, featuring the Museum of Sea and Salt and the Holy Week Museum of Tomas Valcarcel. The Museum of Sea and Salt shows the importance of the salt industry in the development of Torrevieja. Many crafts made with salt, photographs and archaeological finds are displayed at the museum, as well as model boats and a model Torrevieja sailing ship. You can also tour a submarine. The Holy Week Museum of Tomas Valcarcel, created in 1992, is open every day except Sunday and the week before Easter. This museum was named for a local artist and displays statutes, sculptures, embroidery and paintings based on the showcased custom of passion processions throughout Torrevieja.

Festivals play another huge role in sightseeing in Torrevieja, with a festival occurring nearly each month. There will definitely be a festival during any season you visit. For instance, the Festival of the Patron Saint and Christmas festivals occur during the winter months. If you visit during January, you will experience the New Year’s Festival and the Procession of the Three Kings. In April, there are several Easter festivals and celebrations. The May Fair occurs in May and is one of the most important festivals along the coastline, with preparations beginning in March. There are several summer festivals. In June, the San Juan bonfires are popular. In July, the Seafarer’s festivals and Habaneras festival will provide much entertainment and fun. There is even a festival in August in honor of tourists. The festivals continue into the autumn season, including the Festival of Vendimia in La Mata, the El Pilar festival, Halloween and the festival of All Saints.
