Preventive Cardiology has been in demand in this generation. With a growing number of heart-failure patients, the care and prevention of the most vital organ of the body, the heart, is most needed.

Preventive Cardiology covers the field of medicine dealing with the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and disorders. Preventive Cardiology has been lobbied due to the increasing trend of deaths and illnesses due to cardiology heart disease.

Preventive Cardiology measures have been actively promoted by doctors in order to ensure the decrease the onset of cardiovascular diseases among people. As they say, “Prevention Pays.” Heart disorders can be unavoidable in this generation, but pursuing a healthier lifestyle lowers your chances of getting sick. Healthy habits integrated into your lifestyle can save you a lot of years to live.

Preventive Cardiology offers these solutions:

1. Have your regular heart check ups. Get regular screenings for blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

2. Check on your weight. Consult an expert regarding the appropriate weight for your height/size. Calculate for your Body Mass Index or BMI. Remember that excess weight increases chances of heart disease complications such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and diabetes.

3. Practise eating a balanced diet. Fruits and vegetables contribute a lot in preventive cardiology practice.

4. Do exercise regularly. Getting active hastens metabolism, thus burning those fats fast that could have clogged your arteries. It also build Cardiovascular endurance.

5. No to smoking and tobacco use. The nicotine in cigarette smoke makes your heart work harder by constricting blood vessels and increasing your heart rate and blood pressure. The same goes with the 4,800 chemicals inside a tobacco smoke. These chemicals damage the heart and blood vessels by narrowing the arteries. This condition is called Artherosclerosis – at its onset, it usually leads to heart attack.

Preventive Cardiology has reached milestones in spreading awareness about heart care to reduce the number of cardiac failure cases. The main key in the success of Preventive Cardiology is for individuals to stay focused on its aim to better the cardiac well-being of themselves.
