Blue tooth headsets comprise of an earpiece and microphone that can be used with a variety of Blue tooth enabled handheld electronic devices such as mobile or cell phones, PDAs, and some digital music players, for example the iPod, and even some games consoles.

Blue tooth is a term used to describe a wireless technology that can be used in various electronic devices to allow wireless communications over a short distance, usually less than 10 metres. The technology has been around for a number of years, and is becoming increasingly commonplace in many small electronic devices.

Blue tooth headsets are thought of as hands-free and Blue tooth technology allows several devices to connect together and communicate with one another without the use of wires or cables. Blue tooth headsets for use with mobile phones have dramatically reduced in price over the past couple of years, making them more affordable for everyone.

Blue tooth headsets allow a mobile or cell phone user to make and receive calls without touching the phone, this is a major breakthrough in hands-free technology. The Blue tooth headset fits comfortably in the ear and allows the user to do other things whilst having a conversation on the phone. One of the most popular applications of the Blue tooth headset is with drivers, the use of a wireless headset in a motor vehicle whilst driving makes it a lot easier and safer to hold a conversation while on the move.

Studies have shown that drivers distracted by using hand-held mobile phones while driving are at a much greater risk of being involved in an accident. The research states that a driver’s reaction time can be reduced by up to 50%, this is worse than if the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and they are 4 times more likely to have a crash. In fact it is now against the law in the UK to use a hand-held mobile phone while driving. Drivers who are caught doing this will receive a fine of £60 and 3 points on their driving license. Blue tooth headsets are safer to use in a motor vehicle because they allow the driver to focus more on the road, and they are not illegal to use because it is extremely difficult for law enforcement to see drivers using them. But if the driver is driving erratically because they are distracted by a phone conversation using a Blue tooth headset, they can still be prosecuted for not having proper control of their vehicle.

There is a bewildering array of Blue tooth headsets available on the market, you are sure to find one with a style and price to suit you. Let’s face it; if you want to use your phone safely while driving, you can’t afford not to buy one.
