You turn the knob to your house's front door. The door swings open, and your heart skips a beat. Your house looks like a hurricane had stripped it bare! You walk around the living room, surveying the damage - ripped up recliners, the broken vase on the coffee table, and drapes piled on the floor. Dazed, you make your way to the kitchen and find the floor littered with broken drinking glasses, plates, and a huge ceramic cookie jar.

What could have happened to your home? You look around in bewilderment. Suddenly, you hear some sounds coming from your bedroom, where most of your valuables are stashed away. You creep up to the bedroom door, and then slowly push it open. Suddenly, you are face-to-face with the culprits…your pet dog Spot and his accomplice, your pet cat Stripes! Spot? Striped? A wrecked home? What could have happened? While closed circuit televisions are typically used in the home to monitor children and babysitters, you can also use closed circuit televisions ti keep an eye on your canine or feline friends.

Dogs, Cats and bBrds, Oh My!
Pets have become big business in America. The pet store industry is now worth about $25 billion every year. In fact, every year Americans spend more on cat food than they do on baby food! In 1998, about 71 million cats and 57 million dogs lived in America's homes. Pets can range from birds to lizards, and from gerbils to hermit crabs. In many countries, animals are mainly used for transportation, farm work, and a tasty burger. But in other nations, pets have oftentimes become part of the family! Many people there have fond memories of walking their dogs in the park; or their cats sleeping peacefully at the foot of their bed, with their “motors” running at full force. Closed circuit television in your home can help to watch these animals when you cannot.

Housebreaking Babies
Closed circuit television is ideal for animals of all ages. Like baby humans, baby pets need special attention and monitoring. They can easily become vulnerable to frisky siblings or other larger creatures. Also, pets such as puppies and kittens need to be housebroken. Puppies must learn to use newspapers for more than reading, and kittens must learn to dig their claws into scratching posts, rather than into recliners. So using a closed circuit television is particularly appropriate for your smallest pets, in order to observe when these little creatures are doing the right thing, and when they are being naughty.

Pet Pinching
Today, anything can be stolen from your home, including baby pets. Closed circuit television typically catches thieves stealing expensive electronic devices, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, mp3 players, LCD TVs, video game systems, and laptops. Beloved pets can be stolen too, and they are not always stolen while chained up outside your house. Like other precious possessions, parrots, goldfish, and even salamanders can be stolen from the privacy of your own home! A closed circuit television can serve as your first line of defense to protect Fido or Fluffy. By monitoring your home with a security camera, you can record the images of any intruders.

For many of us, pets are not just animals. They have become our friends and part of our families. So, guiding and protecting them should be a top priority when securing our homes. Closed circuit television should be present in every pet-friendly home!
