Moving can be quite an ordeal. There is nothing harder to do than to move. It can be bearable however if you do a few things to make your life easier. Read this article for some tips to help your move go a little smoother.

The first thing you need to do is collect enough moving boxes. The more the better. You do not want to have to go searching around for boxes at the last minute. Some common places to look are friends, neighbors and grocery stores. If you have a department store that you frequent often you might ask them for some boxes since they probably have dozens of extras. If all else fails you should purchase some boxes. Look online for the best prices.

If you are moving yourself and renting a truck do not go cheap on the moving supplies. Rent the dolly and the furniture movers. It will make moving heavy items much easier and will save your back . The few extra dollars spent here are very worthwhile. Also go ahead and get moving blankets to protect your fragile furniture finishes.

Another tip is to pack an overnight bag or a box of items that you will need immediately. This will keep you from having to scramble around to find items the night of your move. Some common things to put in this box are important paperwork, toiletries, change of clothes and anything else you will need within a day.

The last tip I have for you is to get the biggest truck you think you might need and pack it wisely. There is nothing worse than trying to cram all of your belongings into a truck that is too small. When you do start packing, pack wisely. Load the granny's attic first and pack things that you will need first, last.

I hope these tips are of use to you. If this sounds like too much work you should consider hiring professional movers. They can save you both headaches and backaches. Good luck.
