If you are looking for somewhere delightful to spend your summer vacation you could do worse than land on incomparable Cyprus for a couple of weeks well deserved rest and recreation, on one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean. The temperatures during the summer months soar well over the thirties and there is practically no risk of rain, a welcome change from the wet summers being barely tolerated in parts of Europe at present.

The birthplace of Aphrodite, and the scene of St Paul’s first conversion to Christianity, can there be anywhere more romantic or appropriate to stage a wedding or enjoy a honeymoon? If you have already sailed past these two milestones in your life then try Cyprus for the best all round family holiday available.

There is so much to try, so much to do, eat, see and experience in Cyprus. It carries the hallmarks of ancient civilizations in abundance, the scars of shipwrecks plundered by pirates and the hastily built fortresses of Kings. It is not difficult to see even in these modern times why Cleopatra found Cyprus so irresistible. I quite like it myself.

The standards are so high in Cyprus, the restaurants serve an enormous variety of cuisine, there is traditional meze, with a delicious variety of dips to accompany the meat dishes, you will also find Chinese restaurants, fish tavernas, and often dancing is on the menu along with the food and local wine. All the usual selection of burger bars are sprinkled along the seafront to keep the children happy. If head banging is your thing, then Cyprus discos are the very best and they rock till the early hours.

The weather is perfect for water sports throughout the summer months, and the sea is a beautiful shade of bright turquoise. Just about any sport is available; you just have to ask along the seafront in Paphos. In the winter months you can be on the beach in the morning, and within an hour or so be in the Troodos mountains on the ski slopes.

An island which offers something for everyone, it is unsurprising that Cyprus continues to welcome visitors from all over the world, all year round.
