Baby Boomer Trends Up-front Higher Costs For Quality Often Saves Money

The group of people born between the years 1946-1964 are often referred to as the generation of baby boomers. While their population percentage is only 27% they represent a far greater percentage of wealth and spending capital.

One of the world’s most distinguished economists Paul Zane Pilser, has invested considerable time and effort into analyzing the buying and spending habits of this generation of baby boomers.
The first conclusion concerns the interests of these baby boomers. Essentially once they become comfortable their thoughts and spending will focus on better health and looking younger.

The baby boomers shopping and spending habits are much different than their parents. Their parents spent a much higher percentage of their income on the basic necessities of life while the boomers typically have much more in the way of disposable income to spend on wellness products.

The smart sophisticated intelligent consumer when shopping will typically look for and select the best-quality product their budget will allow. That is because they have learned that a quality well-made product will almost always save them money, long-term as it not only will last longer, but also perform better. If one can afford it, it almost never pays to buy a poorer quality alternative. It is hard to get ahead when you are continuing to replace a product when it is worn out.

Of course, don’t get confused with expensive accessories that add to the cost of an item. These accessories don’t necessarily add any additional quality to an item. For example, you could buy a particular car with or without a navigation system. The quality of the car would be the same with or without the navigation system. However, if most people select this particular option, not getting it may make it less valuable when selling it.

In conclusion one last item concerning the buying habits of boomers concerning consumable, reusable commodities like nutrition supplements and health foods and the like. The sophisticated educated boomer even if their initial purchase of a particular item is not the highest quality, once they determine they like that item they will move up in quality with their purchases. And of course they tend to stay with the higher quality item as they simply like it better and/or realize it’s their best and truly least cost item over it’s lifetime.

I don’t care what someone might say on the outside, no one really wants to settle for their second or third choice. Take some time and observe how the wealthy behave in terms of where they spend their money. They typically despise spending money more than once for the same items so they spend their money on items that will last.

This is why we as a merchant have elected to only provide you with the very best quality products along with our dedication to the very best service. Because while we realize you may try a lesser product once you have tried the best you will almost always be back for more and we will be right here. We’re not going anywhere.
