Cool Is What Cool Is

Being cool means different things to different people, so here are some of the things people do to make them selves cool.

Lots of people who went thru school as one of the not cool people, spend much of their adult lives trying to become the cool kid they always wanted to be in school, and they go but and buy anything they can that may make people think they are cool, instead of taking a look at what makes some people cool and some people not cool.

Cars, a fast sports car is the most common thing people buy to make them selves more cool. Most people do not go out and investigate the car that has the least amount of reported problems or is the most fuel efficient car they want a car that looks, fast and intimidating.

Clothes, many people like to spend lots of money on the latest fashions to help them improve their image, thinking that people will find them interesting because they know what the hot new things to wear are.

Music: People who are looking to improve their image in certain social groups will spend the time finding out what music is hip with those people and will adopt that music as their favorite music, in an attempt to make others think they are cool.

Casino gambling and Poker: due to the popularity of poker on TV many people have not only taken up playing poker, but they think it is cool to not only dress like the famous poker players, but they have to wear patches for different sponsors like the professional poker players do. Just remember that playing poker, blackjack or roulette may make you seem cool, but games like keno, pachinko or bingo will definitely make you seem like a dork, unless you win millions of dollars.

Jewelry, also known as Bling is often used as a status symbol and the general rule has become the bigger, more expensive and uglier the jewelry is the cooler the wearer has to be. This has led to some people going out wearing thousands of dollars r the ugliest looking pieces.

The Gym: In the past 10 years the gym has become a new hip spot, and if you want to be cool you have to be seen at the gym, but that does not mean you have to work out. It is usually simple to notice the people that are at the gym to work out and those who are there just to try and be cool. The second group can be found in the lobby, at the juice bar, sitting in the back of an aerobics class watching the other people working out or in the hot tube.

Being cool is not about what you have or listen to. Being cool is all about who you are. In school being cool was all about being popular, but what most adults see as cool is more about who you are, and doing what you want to do and not what everyone else does. Those who are considered to be cool are usually leaders and not followers.

People who are cool if asked do not care about being cool they just want to be themselves, and if people think this is cool it is because most people are followers an they will cling onto a fad because everyone else is doing it, and historically people that were cool were leaders and not followers.

So if you are really looking to be cool then the best advice is to just be yourself. Some people will find you cool for living life on your own terms.
