The first thing you should probably think about is what temperature are you likely to be sleeping in.

For instance, if you are camping outside in sub zero temperatures, you will want a bag that is very well insulated and able to keep you warm in the weather conditions that you are anticipating.

You will probably also want to think about using a sleeping bag that fits snugly against your body to keep in the heat rather than a rectangular shaped bag. Conversely, if you are camping in tropical climes, you will probably want a very lightweight bag.

You should also think about how you are going to reach your destination. If you are driving to the place where you are going to spend the night, weight is not an issue. However, if you will have to walk a long way before finding a rest place, you should go for a light bag that is easy to compress.

When it comes to selecting a bag, you might be better off to try and find one online as few stores carry a very wide range of different products. On the internet however, you will be able to browse the complete range before placing an order.
