The whole free paid survey scene is nothing new. However, with the dawn of the internet, free online surveys have become a very popular marketing tool lately. This is great news for you and me because there is nothing easier then being able to earn some extra money just by sharing our opinions.

The Incredible Power of the Internet!

The Internet has furthered simplified things further by empowering people to make money simply by taking online surveys. So now, anyone that owns a computer, that has an internet connection, and 30 minutes free time can pocket some extra cash.

All you really need to do is signup with either a survey company (this is the company itself that is conducting the surveys), or a "middleman" company. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete the application form and in most cases, the application is free of charge. Even if you are asked to pay a membership fee, it will be affordable, and you will make your money back with the first survey that you complete.

The beauty of online paid surveys is that its possible to match this activity to your lifestyle. Taking surveys is not a demanding full time job. Online survey notifications arrive in your email box, and you can complete them when it is convenient for you. You could make up to $50 while drinking your morning cup of coffee or you could take them during your coffee break at work. You can often get paid more than $250 for participating in online focus groups or discussion group (although these are often a little more in depth and they require more of your time).

Think Before You Act!

So far everything sounds way too good to be true. Unfortunately, there are a number of fraudulent paid survey companies as well. They get you on the hook by offering paid online surveys for a small membership fee and then they basically take your money, leaving you high and dry.

The thing about these companies is, they don't really "run" from you, the only thing that happens is that no surveys show up in your mailbox. Another scenario is that they send you surveys but you never receive the money you were promised for taking them.

Make sure that you thoroughly checkout the survey companies you are signing up with, make sure that you know exactly what they are offering you, who is going to be paying you, how you are going get paid for each survey that you complete. The payment can be made through a cheque, a credit card, or a Pay Pal payment. It is best if you signup with survey sites that have several payment options this way you can pick the payment option that is the most convenient for you.

Finally, you should check to see if you will have to pay taxes on the money that you make for your online survey participation. If you are unsure about this you should find out if you have to declare this as income and pay taxes on the money that you are going to be making taking the surveys. Most of the serious survey companies will state this information on their web sites, and in their contract agreements.
