If you are thinking of expanding your business in other cities and parts of the world, then it's always advisable that you conduct a market research in that area before actually opening an outlet in that region. The most suitable and feasible way to carry out the research is to obtain answers to the questions listed below:

· What kind of products and services do the customers, living in that area need?

By obtaining the answer to this question, you will be able to chalk out the needs and demands of the customers and then launch a product that would cater to all their needs and satisfy them. The market research will also help you to know, whether the product has a market or not in the new location.

· What are the products and services that the consumers living in that region require the most?

The answer to this question will help you to know, the requirements of your target market and consumers. It will also help you to know, if the product will gain popularity and demand amongst the consumers or not, in the new location.

· What are the customer needs that are not been met with, by the rival companies?

The answer to this question will enable you to know the fallbacks and loopholes of the other companies in the market, that have failed to capture a desirable section of the market. This will prevent you from committing similar mistakes, while launching the product in the market and also save you from incurring heavy losses.

· Who will be your rival in the market?

By answering this question, you will gather information about your rivals in the market and you will be able to formulate your strategies accordingly. It will also help you to know the size of the market so that you can judge how difficult or easy it is to enter and capture a large share of the market. In case yours is a small company, then you have to figure out ways, to get into the already existing giant market. Market research prevents your company from facing failure in a new region.

· What is reason that you loose on to sales to your competitors?

The answer to this question is some what related to the answer to the previous question. If you have information about your competitors, then you will also know about their marketing strategies. This will help you to know the answer to the question as to why your product is failing in that region. If you know the loopholes in your marketing strategy, you will be able to take formative measures to improve upon it. Once you have made all the necessary changes in your policy, the consumers will be automatically attracted to buy your product.

· Which employee has been able to sell a quantum amount of the product?

The answer to this very last question will help you to know, which of your employees are efficient and skilled in communication and marketing. If you know the skills of your employees, you will be able to forecast the sales of your new product in the new location. You will be able to formulate marketing strategies in accordance with your competitor's strategies to attract a large number of customers to your product.

Therefore, with the help of market research, and by answering all these questions, you can target a large section of the market and taste the fruit of success in the new areas where you are launching your new product. For carrying out the market research, you can take help from the market research companies, market research analysts, and market research surveyors.
