H-F-L-team: Home-Based Business Competition By Douglas Miller At Isnare.com Ezine Articles

(The folks at StartUpNation have announced the Home-Based 100 Competition, the first annual ranking of the best performing home-based businesses in America. Your home-based business can be big or small or something in-between. The size your home-based business doesn't matter, you can enter and possibly win.

There are 2 categories of competition:

100 Best Performing:

The 100 Best Performing is based on revenue.

This category is obvious, who made the most money and are ranked in the 100 Best Performing sites. I'm not sure how they rate that because I don't know what factors they take into account. If a business has been up and running for five years as apposed to an new start up that is doing well. So I don't know what their definition is of "Start-Up" is. But I am sure that they have all of those detail worked out.

Top Tens Special Categories:

StartupNation judges will select the Top Tens Special Categories winners after a popular voting. Theses categories look like they could be a lot of fun to enter.

Special Categories include: Greenest (positive impact on the environment), Dorm-Based (businesses that were hatched in a college dorm), Boomers Back in Business (businesses by people over 50 years old), Yummiest (businesses focused on food), Wackiest (the most bizarre), Grungiest (businesses that deal with dirt grim and messy stuff), Worldliest (businesses that have an international focus), Most Slacker-Friendly (a business geared around fortunate lifestyle).

From an entrepreneurial stand point I am very interested in the "Slacker-Friendly" category. I am often amazed to see how people generate theses ideas and make money from them. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and people ready to promote them.

Winners will be published by StartupNation, participating sponsors, and various collaborating media outlets. They will be provided with a "winner's emblem" for use in online and offline communications. Millions of media impressions will be generated as a result. It sounds like a great way to get some f ree advertisement.
