Richard Blackstone

There is a theory and a paradigm of life that says we are all separate entities unto ourselves. You believe yourself to be separate from all other humans and separate from God. When you are separate from God your relationship with God becomes one of dependence on the good opinion of God in order for God to allow you to gain entrance into heaven at the time of your death.

To do this you must be good at the game of life and abide by God's rules because at the end of your life you will be judged by God to see how well you did. You accept this judgment as part of the game. If God judges you unworthy you are condemned to hell. If God judges you worthy you are accepted into heaven. He is a tough but fair God.

We take this base thought that we have about God and incorporate it into our relationships here on earth. Can you begin to see how this “base thought” concept is so important in our day-to-day lives?

In the big picture, God is a monarch and ruler of his realm. In the little picture, you are the monarch and ruler of your realm. You take on the characteristics of this God who sets down rules and keeps tally of who is following them. The better you learn the rules of the game the better chance you have of winning. You fear losing because you may be condemned by God and sent to hell. In your personal relationships you feel it is necessary for you to judge the people and events in your life to determine if they are in alignment with your rules. Just as you perceive God does to you with his rules.

You believe that you have to look out for yourself because nobody else will. God watches you so that he can keep score, but he has given you free will so that you can do what you want. In this paradigm your will is to win, so you judge the people and events of your life to determine if they can help you win or cause you to lose. It's a judgment call and you are the judge.

This constant monitoring of people and events is a big job so it behooves you to categorize groups of people and types of events as good or bad or right or wrong. That way you can immediately judge them so that you don't waste much time with analysis and interrogation.

You only accept those groups of people and types of events that you have determined will best serve you. You condemn the rest as not worthy. Your rules are made, your conscious is clear, and according to your own estimate, you are winning the game of life.

What you may not realize when you do this is that by the very act of your judging the people and events that show up in your life, you are limiting their ability to serve you. When you judge somebody it is like you have put a label on him or her that makes a statement about your perception of that person. All too often our perceptions are not accurate because we don't have enough information to make an informed decision.

When we label people and events like this we are limiting their ability to serve us. We have only allowed ourselves to receive limited data from a much larger resource because our judgment doesn't allow for more information to come through. We have placed a filter on our incoming receptors by judging the person or experience and not allowing the full light of them to shine brightly.

It gets even worse than that because we have also learned, from this concept that we are separate from everything, that we not only have the ability to judge people and events, but we can also choose to condemn them if we feel that is in our best interest.

Just as the God of separation can condemn us to hell, so do we condemn those people and events that we judge not worthy. This seems a little dramatic but we do it all the time. When we do this we create a barrier around ourselves that doesn't let any benefit from those people and events in and we lose out on any potential enlightenment or advancement in our evolution that those people and events may have provided to us.

This does us a tremendous disservice and severely hampers our ability to evolve at a more rapid pace. Judging and condemning is a fear-based decision and stems from the fear-based paradigm of believing that you are separate from all things, including God. What is the alternative? Let us ask the question, “What would love do now?”
