By definition, bright means to give out light or to be filled with light. In some cases, it can also mean to be full of vivid and bold colors. If you want the best of both worlds, you will be glad to know that it won’t take a large amount of time to make your room cheerful and full of life. Specifically, below are five tips to get you started:

Replace blinds with simple window treatments. This will allow for more natural light to enter your home and, truthfully, nothing is brighter than the sun. Perhaps you won’t get a suntan, but you will get plenty of light in your room.

Add an accent rug and/or pillows. These days, adding a touch of brightness to any room is as simple as adding a colorful rug or accent pillows. You can instantly change the look of any room simply by the accessories that you choose to fill it with. If your home is feeling a little dreary, compliment it with bright colors and admire the instant transformation.

Dress up your wall with a colorful piece of artwork. If your walls are currently bare, it may be hard to imagine how much a single touch of color can brighten them up. However, artwork can say a lot about you and to you, so consider adding a framed print to your walls. Afterall, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Let your walls ‘reflect’ who you are. If you use the magic of mirrors to your benefit, you can instantly add a touch of brightness and openness to any room. A particularly small room can greatly benefit from a large mirror or an ensemble of smaller mirrors placed on the wall, which will give the instant feel of a larger space.

Add a touch of paint. If your room looks a little drab, consider sprucing it up with a fresh coat of paint. An application of white paint will add a neutral touch to your room, and will instantly pave the way for you to lighten up your space. Some nice accents to include are a large artificial plant, a floor lamp and window treatments that allow for privacy, but still permit natural light to enter the room.

Now that you know how to brighten up your room, it’s time to get to work. In no time at all, your home will be brilliant and welcoming.
