Keep in mind that any word in English which ends in –tion (attention, vacation etc), always has the -ción word ending in Spanish language. The examples cited above then become atención and vacación respectively.

Next is the word ending –ty in English. Any English word which ends in –ty would become a Spanish which ends in –dad. Such as the word responsibility becomes responsibilidad.

These words in Spanish are easily recognizable when being read by an English speaker who has not learned any type of Spanish course or lesson. This is the good thing about learning Spanish, words just come up to you and you already know what it means in English.

There are a few other rules similar to the examples given above but don’t entirely rely on them though these truly can help you out in examining and learning Spanish words. To be sure, always look up a word from a vocabulary source.
