There are more actions involved in gardening than many people realize. Some people think that all they have to do is dig a hole in the ground, plant something in the hole that was dug and cover it up and water it regularly. Some people do not realize that plants are living things that require a certain amount of nutrients to be in the soil they are planted in and that these plants will need good quality air around them to stimulate growth and to allow the plants to pollinate.

Most people would never think that they would have to design a garden. They do not take the growth patterns of plants into consideration until they are faced with overcrowding in the flower bed and some shrubbery has not been able to grow to its full potential and is now considerably shorter than the height that the owner needed to create a privacy fence around the property.

A garden that is planned out will serve as a decorative accent to the home landscape. The garden can be planned to include irrigation which would allow the homeowner to water all of the plants and shrubs in the backyard on a regular basis with very little effort. Some areas of the property can be saved because the home garden was planned so that it would help keep top soil from eroding.

Most gardeners want to create beautiful landscapes around the shrubbery in the yard but do not know the first thing about preparing the soil. They might need to get guidance from a home and garden specialist when they learn that there is a big difference between mulch and topsoil. The home gardening specialist will most assuredly tell them that plants can not survive on topsoil alone.

The most cautious home gardener will stick to practicing container gardening because the rest of the gardening chores seem too complicated. These home gardeners have come to trust the soil content that is in the potted container and know that they can grow tomato plants this way and get good results. They also like the fact that containers can be moved around the home and used for decoration.

These home gardening enthusiasts might choose to visit a home and garden store and buy tomato plant food because they know that tomatoes need more than water to grow even if they are growing well in the container that they were planted in. They might take the time to check out some pesticides and consider which ones are good for indoor use and which insects are likely to migrate indoors because of the beautiful tomato plants in the kitchen are simply irresistible.
