To say that anyone has arrived at a cure for acne would be to speak too soon and perhaps inadvisably. There likely will never be any kind of ultimate cure for acne. That being said, there are remedies for the condition of acne which seem like a cure for those unlucky enough to suffer the disease. And therefore, the likelihood of finding an acne cure home remedy is a high possibility depending upon which remedy works best for you.

Home remedies are non-commercial remedies which do not involve the purchase of a special drug or ointment at the local drug store. They use common ordinary ingredients which can be found in most households. Home remedies have been around for a long time, long before the pharmaceutical industry began to exploit this market with its synthetic ointments and treatments. Many of these home remedies work with equal if not better results than their pharmaceutical counterparts, not to mention the fact that unlike the majority of their counterparts, they create no adverse side effects for the user.

In order to find an acne cure home remedy, we need to understand just what acne is and what causes it. Acne is the result of a condition which finds skin pores clogged and unable to naturally secrete their oils. Skin follicle ducts contain what is known as sebaceous glands which produce a substance known as sebum (oil). The clogged pore develops a pouch of sebum oil underneath it, causing inflammation of the skin (the red raised area or bump commonly associated with the first stages of acne scarring). At some point, bacteria from dead skin cells begin to inhabit these pouches of excess oil, adding to the inflammation. So now that we know what acne is, we can now seek to find ways that promote a home remedy.

One home remedy method which deals with the prevention of further acne involves using fresh lemon juice on the affected area of skin. One note of caution for those with sensitive skin is that lemon juice will produce a slight stinging sensation. If you can deal with that for a brief period of time, then you will have found an excellent substance for cleansing skin pores. The lemon juice acts as an exfoliate and will help the skin to shed dead skin cells quicker, preventing the dead skin cells from clogging the pores and hence trapping bacteria which then leads to the formation of acne. This can be applied over night and left on till morning when it can be washed off with water, and at the very least, it should be applied to the skin and left for half an hour before washing off.

Another common substance which can be substituted for lemon juice which also has a similar effect to lemon juice is fresh tomato pulp. This can be applied by cutting a tomato in half and appling the pulp of the cut half onto the affected area of the skin. If possible, leave the application on the skin for up to one hour before washing clean with water.

The best way to treat a new acne pimple is to work at drying up the excess oil contained underneath the follicle. One treatment is to use a non-gel toothpaste on the affected area. You would apply a small dab on the area before you go to bed at night and then wash it off in the morning. The toothpaste works like a sponge to dry out the affected area and to dislodge any oil that may be trapped in the pore.

Many people are lead to falsely think that their acne is caused by poor facial hygiene. This is simply not the case at all. We have already touched on what the cause of acne is, and it does not involve inattentiveness to the cleanliness of the face or the affected area. It should be noted here that it is only necessary to wash the face twice a day with a mild soap when attempting to deal with the onset of acne. Over washing the face can cause skin irritation. Once you have washed the face, try not to touch it with dirty hands or fingers as these contain oils and bacteria which may plug up and further infect the pores.

Once you are able to begin reducing the number of inflammed areas on the skin, you may wish to begin dealing with the scarring effect left by this inflammation. One way to begin doing this is by helping the skin to return to a good PH balance. Improving the PH balance of the skin has proven to lead to healthier skin. A fairly common household item that can be used for this treatment which is also a natural PH balancer is common ordinary baking soda. It helps put the skin back into a proper PH balance.

The best way to use baking soda is to make a paste by mixing it with water. Apply to the skin and rub it in gently, letting it dry. Leave on the skin for about fifteen minutes, and remove with warm water. Once removed, use a small amount of moisturizer on the skin as the baking soda treatment will tend to dry the skin. Doing this several times a week will help the skin to remain clear while supporting its natural radiance.
