When you’re a publisher or, let’s say, an author who uses the standard method of giving away copies of your published books, it would be very expensive indeed to use this kind of advertising.

But when you’re an e-book publisher, it’s even more difficult for you to go this route as first, you don’t have access to a large number of copies of your book; and second, you don’t have a book to give away because there’s no physical book to speak of in the first place.

Nevertheless, there’s a way for e-publishers like you to effectively promote and market your e-books. And you don’t have to pay so much for this marketing method, yet at the same time, it can provide almost the same results as that of your giving away a cheaper copy of your book.

What am I talking about? Postcards, of course.

Creating your own postcard printing project to promote your e-book is one of the most cost effective and efficient marketing medium that you could ever use. Your postcard printing project can also promote an upcoming appearance or event that you have for your book. Postcards are very versatile and you can customize it to further boost your sales leverage.

Your postcard printing project can either be handed out to your target clients, or mailed to let them know of your new book. You can leave them anywhere and in the most unlikely places, which you cannot do if you have your printed books to use as your advertising tool. Your postcards further save you space when having them stacked on tables or countertops. Imagine having your books piled up on a local grocery register.

And compared to your printed books, your postcard printing project is cheaper to mail. In the United States, you only have to pay 21 cents for a 3 x 5 inches postcard; and an extra 16 cents if you choose to go bigger, like a 4 x 6 inch postcard.

You can start your postcard printing project by planning on your design and layout. You can use your book cover as your main illustration and you can apply it everywhere in your postcard. Your postcard printing copy, on the other hand, can have an excerpt from your book. Or you can also put the details of an upcoming appearance or event like a book launching.

You can also effectively optimize your postcard printing project without having to spend so much. Because your postcard printing project has a flexible format, you can have one side printed in full color, especially if you put your book cover on that side; while the other side of your postcard printing project holds a little information so you can print that side in black.

Just remember that having your postcard printing project to promote your e-book, or even your print books, doesn’t’ have to be very expensive. This marketing strategy is definitely way cheaper than having copies of your books printed to be given away to your target readers.

So the next time you’re thinking of promoting your books, why not use postcards. Your postcard printing project can surely help you maximize your budget, as well as your book’s exposure.
