1. Set Goals in Alignment with Your Core Values

If your goals are not in alignment with your core values either: a) you won’t achieve the goal , or, b) you won’t be very happy once you get there. This means that you must know or discover what your core values are. Think about what’s important to you, then determine how you want to expand it. Don’t set goals that deep down are meant to satisfy or impress others.

2. Write Down Your Goals

There is a sense of commitment that comes to you when you write down your goals. Use it for good to help you move forward in the right direction. Don’t fear it. By writing down your goals you are choosing to take them seriously. They have a more important place in your life. If you decide the goal no longer suits you or isn’t right for you, you can always throw the paper away.

3. Set S.M.A.R.T. Goals

That stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Risky and Time-bound. S.M.A.R.T. goals are important because you must know when you’ve arrived. You also need to know where you are at along the continuum. Don’t set vague goals like, “I want to have a better marriage.” How will you ever know when you’ve arrived? Set goals where you can really celebrate your success

4. Have a Passion or a Burning Desire

Experts say that when you have a big enough “why” you will figure out the “how.” If you have a big goal, a big vision you better have that sense of “burning desire” that Napoleon Hill talks about in “Think and Grow Rich.” Your passion will help keep you motivated past the obstacles and keep you going when others say “no.” Find your passion and get going now!

5. Determine Your Reward When You Meet Your Goal

Many people don’t reward themselves when they meet their goal saying the accomplishment of the goal is enough of a reward. This is a mistake. When you plan a reward and you give yourself that reward after the completion of the goal the victory is sweeter. You are able to take a breather and acknowledge yourself. This is vital before starting on the next goal.

6. Find a Mastermind Team Who will Support and Encourage You

Surround yourself with positive people who are rooting for you even if they don’t know much about what you’re doing. The intention is that they believe for you what you may not be ready to believe for yourself yet. Don’t miss out

7. Put Your Goals Where You can See them and Read them Often

Put your goals on your desk, on the bathroom mirror, on the refrigerator door, in your purse or wallet, in your planner or organizer. Make an effort to read your goals every day. Many times the reason we don’t achieve our goals is simply because we forget about them. Make sure your goals are present in your mind and heart every day. Then your subconscious will get to work leading you to the right people and resources to help you make them happen.

8. Don’t be Attached to the Process. Be Open and Flexible.

John Lennon said, “Life is what happens when you’re making other plans. In the big picture – our goals are set in Jello® not concrete. That doesn’t mean you should give up on your goals. It means that sometimes the solutions come to you in totally unexpected ways. Don’t be married to certain steps because better and faster ones might be revealed. Be prepared for miracles.

9. Visualize Your Goals in Completed Form

It’s important not to just think OF your goals, but to think FROM your goals. That means visualize your goals in a state of completion. Imagine how you will feel. Are you happy? Smiling? Who are you sharing it with? Where are you? What do you see, taste, touch, smell, hear and feel? Make it so real it’s palpable. Visioning like this will help attract you towards your goals faster.

10. Believe Good Things Happen and You Deserve It

The universe does not give financial riches to people who don’t believe they deserve it because they often lose it quickly and this creates turmoil. Believing in your worthiness is an “inside job.” When you are ready and know that you are deserving you will have the power to claim it faster than ever. If not you, then who?
