Price is one of the most important factors concerning new RVs against used RVs, but apart from that, there are several other factors to be considered too. For example, if you are planning to use your RV only for two weeks in a year, a used RV will be the right choice. On the other hand, if you plan to spend most of time traveling cross-country, a new RV with a full warranty would be a good choice.

If you have decided to buy a used RV, check to see if there is any type of warranty available. If you buy an RV from a private owner, it is normally with no warranty. This is also true with many RV dealers. Most of the dealers will offer an extended service plan or contract if the used RV meets the service plan criteria. Also, the age of the RV will factor into the cost, but you should negotiate with the dealer concerning the service plan. Make sure that other RV dealers and repair centers will honor the service plan you purchase, because it won't do you any good if your RV needs repair while you are traveling and nobody honors the plan.

Another factor to consider before buying a used RV or new RV is how long you plan to keep your RV. For example if you buy an RV with the thought in mind that as soon as you make money, you will upgrade to a larger RV, then it is best you buy an used RV. RV's depreciate, they do not appreciate. So, if you buy a new RV and then sell it within the first couple of years, you are bound to lose a substantial amount of money. But in case of used RV, it has already suffered depreciation and you don't lose much if you get rid of it sooner. But this depends on how much you have paid for the used RV.

If you are opting for a used RV, then consider the finance terms and the interest rates involved in it. Since the RV is used, banks offer shorter finance terms and higher interest rates compared to new RVs.

If you decide to purchase used RV Motorhomes, see that all the systems and appliances operate properly and there are no hidden damages that can't be easily be seen. Water leaks can be hard to detect and extremely costly to repair.

Be sure to consider the above points like cost, usability, warranty, and the duration you intend to use your RV along with the hidden damages when planning to purchase a new or used RV.
