Are you sick and tired of being told "no" by everyone you approach about your MLM product or opportunity?

If you said “yes” to the question above, you are certainly not alone.

It is my mission to help fellow network marketers who have struggled, just like me, to achieve network marketing success and build the MLM business they always wanted. What I’m going to tell you could be the difference between earning that elusive 6 figure passive MLM income or becoming so frustrated and disillusioned by all the time, energy, and money wasted that you see no alternative but to turn your back on your MLM dream forever.

There are two common practices and teachings of network marketing companies, MLM “gurus”, and, of course, your upline that can destroy your business, regardless of what company you belong to, or the product, or service you provide. Pull your chair up and pay attention because what I’m going to tell you could change your business forever.

Myth #1: Leading With Your Opportunity Is The Best Way To Grow Your MLM Business

The truth is, 50 years ago leading with the MLM opportunity worked great. Back then network marketing was a unique, fresh concept and it was the first time people were getting approached with such an idea. People heard success stories of the average Joe making big money in MLMs and they didn’t have the internet back then to see the huge number of MLM horror stories posted on blogs daily.

Fast forward through time to 2007 and we have the opposite situation. People have become cynical and suspicious of MLMs. Network marketing is no longer a unique, exciting concept and people are constantly getting approached with different MLM opportunities. Not to mention the fact that most of the network marketers who are trying to sell them on the latest and greatest “get rich through my MLM opportunity" are the same friends and family members who are struggling to make financial ends meet.

If want to work hard and get little results, like being met with skepticism, and enjoy being told “no” more than "yes," by all means, lead with the opportunity. But if you want to work smart and experience long term success, you will find that leading with the product will increase your results, save your self esteem and friendships, and help you achieve higher income faster.

Fact: Leading With The Product Will Attract More People Into Your Organization And Establish Greater Downline Loyalty

People are much more open to hearing about a product they have a want, need, or desire for, than getting some MLM get rich quick propaganda shoved down their throats. If what you sell produces noticeable results (like younger looking skin or weight loss) you are a walking billboard of the value of the product and people will ask you about how you got such great results. If the product saved you 50% on your travel or prevented a virus from destroying your hard drive, you can talk about these experiences in normal conversation without sounding like a bad infomercial. Then people ask you how you achieved your results. It’s easier, flows better into normal conversation, and is so much more socially acceptable.

Furthermore, it is a proven fact that people who market products they believe in and are passionate about are far more effective than people who are just joined an MLM to make a buck. Distributors who have belief and excitement about their product are infectious and come across as well meaning individuals who just want to help people. Whereas, those who sell a product they could care less about sometimes come across to prospects as being a slimy salesman who is just after their money. The difference in results is night and day.

In addition, once people who love your product and have benefited from its value are in your organization, their retention is so much higher because they aren’t swayed by bigger pay plans or getting into another company at the ground level. They want to stay where they are because they are tied to the product, not promises of getting rich quick.

Myth #2: Market To Everyone You Come In Contact With

Now I realize this concept is a little controversial, but bear with me because if you understand this principle, it will save you time, energy, and frustration. For those of you who use it to your advantage, it will allow you to have hundreds of people coming to you every week asking for what you’re offering, rather than you having to chase everyone you come in contact with.

You should market your product only to your target audience, not the world at large. Now, you may be thinking, “Everyone in the world can benefit from my product so, everyone must be my target audience.” Although I have no doubt that you sell a high quality product that can benefit anyone who uses it, the truth is that not everyone wants to be benefited by your product.

Network marketers are notorious for trying to sell everyone their product, without giving thought as to whether this person is even interested in the benefits it provides. The key concept missing in this network marketing method is MARKETING. So then, what is marketing?

Fact: True Marketing Is Putting The Right Product In Front Of The Right Audience

That’s it! It really is that simple! The key is finding people who already have a want, need, or desire for the benefits of what you sell and simply providing them the means to get it. You see, with skilled marketing there is no selling and no arm twisting. You provide a means for people who already want what you’re offering to find you, and they will literally ask you to sell your product to them.

Sound too good to be true? Think about TV commercials.

When was the last time you saw a commercial trying to convince dads to buy their daughter a Barbie during a football game? Never, because although the Barbie can benefit the dad by keeping his daughter busy and out of his hair for hours at a time, a grown man is not the right target audience for a Barbie commercial.

When do they air Barbie commercials?

During Saturday morning cartoons while little girls are watching TV. The girl then asks her dad for the product and he buys it for her. The manufacturer sells more Barbie’s by marketing to people (little girls) who already have a want, need, or desire for what they are offering, even though it’s not the child who actually buys the Barbie.

The same is true in network marketing. Save yourself a lot of time and headaches and only market to people who are looking for what you’re offering. Your friends, family, and bank account will thank you.

I know these are controversial concepts in our industry, but think about it. If everyone thinks that leading with the opportunity and pushing our product on the world is the only way to make it in network marketing, maybe that’s why 90% of all network marketers fail. If we do what everyone does, we’ll get the results that everyone is getting.
