Let's examine the sales procedure. More importantly, let's focus on how you can make your shopping cart work for you. If you compare some of the reputable businesses out there like VistaPrint, GoDaddy, or Amazon, you'll discover that when you check-out a product from these stores, you meander through train of questions within the shopping cart. You just want to get to the approval page. They'll transport you through a collection of screens where you answer "no" to the products they are trying to market to you. At last, you get to approve your order.

The series of questions is no mistake. Businesses invest plenty of time in evaluating methods to make more money. As a marketer, you should be evaluating this as well. You can definitely learn from these reputable businesses and apply it to your business as well. Maybe you want to offer your merchandise digitally for a price of $67 and then you want to do a hard copy upsell for $97. In your shopping cart, you can actually list products at different prices and people can click on which one they want. If they want the upgrade, you can give them that selection immediately. Keep in mind that many people prefer hard copy products as opposed to digital products.

Once the order is complete and your customers come to your "Thank You" page, take the liberty to advertise to them as well. Do not create a simple "Thank You" page as most beginning online businesses do. You want to get the most out of your shopping cart so sprinkle some advertisements in there as it is another great chance for you to upsell to your customers. To accomplish an effective upsell, you should offer products that are of interest to them and relates to your product. Why bother upselling them if they have already confirmed their order? Because they've already entered their credit card information into your shopping cart. An even better upsell idea is to program your shopping cart to fill out their information automatically if they decide to purchase your upsell product. That is the basic premise of this upsell idea.

A Joint Venture Partnership is also a lucrative way to make money as an upsell as well. Some of these partnerships offer a pay-per-lead; this is where they pay you for each lead you supply them. On the "Thank You" page, you can make the offer even more interesting by saying something like, "we've negotiated a special rate for you to get a subscription for the next 6 weeks with Company XYZ." It makes no difference what product you are trying to upsell. It could be anything from a software program to a printed magazine. Joint venture partnerships are great because you are sending them customers who are already interested in their particular market. And, some partnerships pay a pretty good sum for each lead. I have tested this and I can tell you that it works. This strategy is definitely something that should not be glanced at. Definitely take advantage of this.
