Richard Blackstone

When you believe yourself to be separate from the spiritual aspect of your being you also separate yourself from the infinite power that your spirit possesses. You trust that your spirit is capable of knowing and doing the “right thing” at all times but you are separate from this knowledge and therefore you are not trustworthy like your spirit is.

So here you are, you have determined yourself to be untrustworthy and you actually believe that about yourself. You can't even trust in your untrustworthiness, because it's coming from something that is untrustworthy to begin with! Therefore, everything that you think or act upon comes from this untrustworthy source, you.

If you believe this to be so, then the natural consequence of this belief is that you can never really actualize yourself. You are separate from the Divine and can never hope to be divine.

Since the Divine is the only one trustworthy enough to manifest reality by conscious creation, you will never be able to manifest your own reality. You must be dependent upon God to manifest reality for you. You don't have this ability if you subscribe to this theory of separation.

The paradigm of separation tells us that this is how the universe works. In a nutshell, we are seen as separate entities put here on this planet at birth and then taken from this planet at death. We have two options at death. We can go to Heaven (good) or to Hell (bad).

We are here to pursue freedom by following the rules and commandments set before us by people who have a clearer understanding of how God works. We are separate from all the other people on the planet so we must fend for ourselves to get as much as we can while we are here for this limited time.

We understand the law of “survival of the fittest,” so it's okay to exploit other people and the planet in order to get what's ours. We are also separate from the planet and we believe that the planet is here for us to use as we see fit in order to have our freedom. Part of this freedom is to use the planet's resources to improve our standard of living so that we will be happy.

We set our standards by listening to our most trusted teachers, our mother and father, our religious leaders, and our political leaders. We believe that freedom is our inherent right and we will fight and kill anybody who tries to take it from us.

We accept that we are separate from God and that God is Divine and we are not. We believe that God gave us this place to live out our short lives, and if we can just follow the rules and commandments handed down to us, then we will have a real good chance to get into Heaven when we die.

We understand that if we are not good and don't follow the rules, then there is a real good chance that when we die we will go to Hell. We fear this because Hell is not a nice place, and of course it is for eternity. Hell is run by the Devil, who used to be a real good friend of God, but now he just makes us do bad things that we usually have no control over.

We have the ability, like God, to judge the people and circumstances of our lives. Like God, we can accept or condemn those people and circumstances, according to our own standards. Each of us gets to make up our own standards according to our own life experience. Like God, we know our own standards and you don't. You see, I am separate from you.

We understand that by banding together with people of similar standards, we form more strength to push our standards upon those who don't necessarily believe in them. That's okay though because we judge our standards to be better than their standards, so we are actually doing them a favor by showing them the better way.

We form the largest power groups into nations of the earth and compete with other nations of the earth for our standards, our way of life, and our freedom. Our way of life may require that we impinge on other nations of the world for their natural resources, but that's okay because first of all, our standards and our way of life is better and second, there's a law out there called “survival of the fittest.”

We can judge other peoples of the world and their actions according to our standards. If they don't measure up, we can condemn their actions and even go to war against them, killing thousands of their citizens.

It doesn't seem to matter if we kill innocent women and children because those women and children are part of the bad nation's system that we have judged to be wrong and therefore they must face the consequences. We don't want to kill them. We want to kill the bad guys, but in war sometimes you have collateral damage, and this result is acceptable to our standards.

We have determined that the entity that we know as ourselves, the individual person, may be made up of the mind, body and spirit (or soul), but this whole entity, including the soul, is separate from God.

These are the natural consequences of believing that you are separate from you spiritual source. Do you recognize some of these behaviors in your own life and in the world society today?

Now the question becomes, “Does believing that I am separate from all people, places and things in the universe, including being separate from God, serve me?”

Do the natural consequences of living within the paradigm of separation serve you and all of humanity or have they been the cause of all the turmoil, frustration and man-made disaster that we have inflicted upon our fellow human beings and the planet that sustains our very existence.

Only you can answer this question for yourself. There is a choice point here. You can choose to live within the paradigm of separation and fear or you can choose to live within the paradigm of oneness and love. You are not stuck in one paradigm or the other. It is your choice. It has always been your choice.
