Arranging safe movement of heavy or unwieldy items can sometimes be a real headache for the manager of a large industrial facility or stock house, so having the right equipment in place to make this as simple and straightforward as possible is essential for peace of mind. The responsibility of an employer to ensure the complete safety of all staff when working is sometimes tough to enforce, but by providing staff with the proper tools to carry out their job safely, risk can be reduced, and with it the incidence of injury occurring when moving items such as oil drums.

By using specially designed rotating drum carts in order to lift and transport drums around the workplace, the risk of an injury being caused when manipulating items is reduced by an order of magnitude. That a simple piece of equipment can have such a major impact on workplace safety is a testament to the consideration that goes into the design process of modern industrial equipment. While drum carts may be an often overlooked piece of kit, in any workplace that makes a lot of use of oil drums, whether for storage or waste, being able to move them without spillage is essential.

A rotating drum cart uses a simple but effective design to allow sealed oil drums to be picked up and then moved quickly and effectively. The elegant design is easy to use. All that is required is to hold the cart in a vertical position and slide the two points under the barrel. The curved shape of the cart then allows the cart to roll back into a horizontal position whereupon it stands on a set of heavy duty casters. The barrel is then held securely in place by the well thought out frame work, and by using the ergonomic handles; the drum trolley can be rolled around to wherever it is needed.

The horizontal positioning of the barrel makes the whole drum cart much more stable when it is being moved around, and once it is in the correct place, it can then be tipped back into its vertical state to allow effortless unloading as required.

One of the main advantages of this rather elegant piece of equipment is that it makes moving even a 1,000 lb weight around the floor of a warehouse as easy as possible, and turns a two man job into something that a single person can carry out without any There are a number of different models of rotating drum carts available, and all feature the same high standards of construction that include heavy duty steel throughout.

For moving lighter drums around, when a rotating cart is unnecessary, a simple drum caddy is perhaps the best option. Just like a regular oil drum dolly, but featuring a handy handle to make controlling the device much simpler, these are ideal for the workplace, and are just as easy to use by a single person as two.

Ensuring that objects can be moved easily and quickly around the workplace means that staff are able to work at a much more productive level, which is why investing in equipment such as drum carts must be examined in terms of the increase in returns that greater efficiency will provide as well as the requirement for providing safe equipment.
