When you journey down the spiritual path that leads you to an understanding of “who your really are,” you are often confounded by the absolute truth of an interconnectedness to all of life, while at the same time we are physically walking around in a body that seems to be a separate entity unto itself.

As you continue to seek clarity on the concept of “who your really are” there are two giant concepts that keep you grounded to your spiritual quest. When you fully understand and accept these two basic concepts you will have a solid foundation in which to focus and remain steadfast as your ultimate truths.

Concept One:

“We are all spirit children of God with the same properties and abilities God has.” This is because each one of us is God in individual form. It is like we are a cup of God out of the ocean of God. The water in that cup of God is the same water as that ocean of God. And if that cup of God were taken out of the ocean of God and separated from the ocean of God, then it loses the power of the ocean of God. But when that cup of God is in the ocean of God, if it is one with the God source, then that cup of God has the same stuff and power as the ocean of God.

The cup of God that is separated from the ocean of God can function for a while, but eventually it will evaporate, and in so doing, it will return to the ocean of God in the form of rain. All roads lead back to God. Our authority and power comes from knowing that we are one with God. We don't need to think that we have to die (evaporate) in order to be reconnected with God. We are always with God. God is always with us. We are part of the ocean of God.

Concept Two:

“The second concept is that when we choose to enter the physical world of the relative, we make an agreement with God to relinquish the knowledge we have that our true self is one of a spirit child of God.” Our true self is possessed with the very essence of God. Our true self is eternal and at our core, our true self is love. We know all things and we are an individual part of all that is.

As we relinquish this remembrance of our true self (kind of a grand voluntary amnesia), we are caused to forget who we really are. This collaboration to forget who we really are is the first giant step in knowing ourselves as God, but first we have to know ourselves as not God. Only if we know ourselves as not God do we allow ourselves to choose our experiences in the physical relative world. And through these experiences does God get to know himself experientially as well as conceptually.
