If you want a rosy, soft, and young-looking skin, you have to work hard for it. You need to pay attention to what you eat, and what you put on your face to help ensure that your skin becomes as beautiful and soft as that of a baby.

People with lots of money to spend can always go under the knife and have a facelift, a series of microdermabrasion sessions, some Botox injections and other cosmetic procedures that will help prevent skin aging and maintain a youthful glow.

However, for those who only have a limited budget, there are other ways to achieve that healthy-looking and blemish-free skin. All you have to do is read and follow the seven secrets to maintaining a beautiful and young-looking skin enumerated below:

Drink Up And Be Merry

One of the signs of dehydration is dry and flaky skin. Thus, if you do not want to have dry, scaly and wrinkly skin, you have to ensure that you are properly hydrated. It is advisable to drink at least eight glasses of water everyday. If it is hot or you sweat a lot, you need to increase your water intake.

We all know that toxins are flushed out from our body through sweat and urine. Without proper hydration, accumulated waste products and toxins will find a way out of your body through your skin. Many skin problems, including acne and infections, are caused by your body's inability to get rid of toxins and waste products properly.

Zap Away Your Stress

If you are experiencing chronic stress, you won't be able to sleep well, you will crave for the wrong kinds of food, and you won't find time to take care of yourself. As a result, you will have poor health, dark circles around your eyes, sluggish bodily functions, and dry and older-looking skin. If you do not want to look like 30 years older than your real age, you better find ways to manage and beat stress.

Relaxation, meditation, regular exercise, Pilates, aromatherapy, soothing music, and even multivitamins can all help soothe your mind and body. However, the best way to beat stress is to have a positive mental attitude and all the support you can get from your family and loved ones.

Your face is very sensitive and should be dealt with as gently as possible. Forceful brushing, scrubbing and polishing of your skin will do more harm than good.

Don't Bask In The Sun

Liver spots, freckles, wrinkles and other blemishes and skin discolorations are brought about by excessive exposure to the sun, also called photo damage. With the thinning ozone layer, your skin is exposed to the damaging ultraviolet rays from the Sun. If you need to go out in the morning, you need a good pair of sunglasses and sunscreen with high SPF.

Go Green, Red And Orange

Colorful fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants that help fight sun damage and other harmful elements. You will wake up to a rosier, softer and youthful glowing skin just by increasing your intake of leafy greens, orange produce and red fruits to about five to seven times for a few weeks.
