The aging process is hardly measured by flipping calendars and counting years. As you go through life, your skin loses moisture, you see wrinkles starting to occur on your face and other parts of your body, and age spots and other skin growths develop. These signs of aging are far more obvious than what your calendar can tell you.

But unlike establishing your age by adding up the years, the aging process being manifested by the features of your skin can be reversed. So it is possible that chronologically you may be fifty years old, but your skin can be improved to look like that of a thirty-year-old; or, in the same vein, you can neglect your skin and look like eighty years old. By taking good care of your skin, you can control the effects of time with regard to your aging process.

Take the case of wrinkles. Wrinkles are basically caused by your skin's decreased ability to produce collagen and the overall deterioration of elastin tissues. These factors cause the skin to lose its firmness. And coupled with the effects of gravity, your skin starts to sag and give way to creases and folds more commonly known as wrinkles.

Most people believe that you can not do anything about wrinkles; some even believe that these folds and creases are gifts from heaven which can symbolize one's experiences and wisdom. Well, nothing can be farther from the truth! Wrinkles represent nothing but your neglect for your skin. Sure, you can point them out as effects of time too; but for a large part, wrinkles could have been avoided or minimized had you been more caring for your skin.

For starters, you can avoid overexposure to harsh environmental factors like UV rays from the sun, polluted air, and extreme weather conditions. Apart from these, you should also avoid smoking cigarettes, too much alcoholic beverages, and unhealthy diet. Always remember that toxins in the body can ruin the health of your skin.

If your lifestyle or the nature of your work does not permit you to avoid these wrinkle-causing factors, there are several ways of strengthening your skin's protection from the effects of aging. And integrating these simple protective measures into your habit can give you amazing results.

To reduce the effects of sun exposure, you can always apply sunscreen or sunblock lotion. And whenever you will be out for a picnic or excursion at the beach, make it a point to cover your body from direct sunlight; by wearing a wide-brimmed hat or using a wide umbrella, you get the shade you need without constraining your use of naughty swimwear. For everyday assurance, avoid going outdoors between 10AM up to 3PM.

Although there are countless chemicals and cosmetic procedures that you can avail of to rejuvenate your skin, going natural is always the best. The natural way of caring for your skin may take you a longer time to attain your skin treatment goals; but in the end, you get better results than if you have applied chemical-based cosmetics or surgical procedures.

Stop the premature aging of your skin. Or if you are really that old, reverse the effects of wrinkle blitz brought to you by aging. Doing so will not only make you more beautiful, you will also feel younger and capable of living what could yet be the best years of your life.
