Make This Goal Setting Adjustment To Accelerate Your Online Marketing Success

Do you know the first and most important thing you need to do every day to guarantee your business success and accelerate your progress? It is really quite simple. So simple, in fact, that many people overlook the importance of doing it daily.

You may not become a believer until you put it to task for a week or two. Then, you will be convinced and amazed by the results.

What I am talking about here is short-range goal setting: daily planning. My business focus is Internet marketing and in my experience, most people involved in developing an Internet home business have long-range goals in one form or another but they are missing the incredible value that daily short-range goal setting and daily planning has to offer. And it is so easy to put short-range goal setting to work for you.

Short-range goal setting is a personal practice that can be used immediately to empower your marketing efforts – if you want to leverage the full potential of your goals effectively. Goals create focus. Goals create strength. More than that, goals give direction and meaning and purpose to life.

Here is exactly how to put the power of short-range goals to work for you right now: create a list, in writing, of all the things you can do to promote or build your online business. Make the list. Write it down. The visual impact of the written word is what truly empowers the process. A written list is like a personal contract or prompt that compels you to take action.

Your “to-do” list should contain short-, mid- and long-range goals. Don’t limit yourself: dare to dream. Write down everything you can think of to help build your Internet business. Short-range goals on my list include activities I plan to do today, such as placing ads in online publications, submitting my websites to search engines and directories, writing marketing articles and broadcasting email updates to my opt-in newsletter subscribers. Mid-range goals on my list include projects I plan to get done over the next month or two, like computer and website upgrades, setting up new auto-responder programs to attract new opt-in subscribers, and other marketing plans targeted for the longer term.

If you want, you can group or mark the goals on your list as short-, mid- or long-range, and also by priority according to how quickly you need to get them done.

However, the most important thing is to have a written list and to review it and update it daily – that is an absolute must to guarantee the effectiveness of the system. Daily review creates focus, energizes and motivates you and saves time by allowing you to dive right into your daily business-building activities without delay. One more tip: make list review the last thing you do at the end of each day, too. That will give you an added jumpstart for the next morning.

Believe it or not, a daily “to do” list is a powerful, effective motivator. Try it for a few weeks. Make your list. Review and update it daily and challenge yourself to cross off as many items as possible each and every day. The act of crossing items off as you complete them is, in itself, rewarding and empowering
