Are you making the most of your squeeze pages? Does your headline draw people's attention? Are your bullet points killer, just loaded with incredible benefits? And what about your opt-in box? Did you think a while before adding it to your page, or... did you just settle for what the autoresponder service gave you? Bad idea!

First consider that you need to ask for only the information you need--name and email address, first name only, even. The Internet marketing world is filled with squeeze pages asking for information, and people don't want to give it out because they're overwhelmed. Their inboxes may already be full from other lists they signed up for. So, the more information you ask for, the less likely they are to opt-in. If you give something of value away in exchange for opting into your list, the more likely it is that people will sign up, too. People are much more likely to give you their first name and email address just so they can have whatever it is you're offering.

Also think about your "call to action" button. The autoresponder default in Internet marketing is "submit," so unless you make the conscious effort to change it, that's what it will read. Do you like to submit to anything? Probably not. So, why would people want to submit to you? Not a terribly exciting prospect, right? OK, so change that button to something like "Free Instant Access" or "Claim Your Free Subscription," anything that will get people in the mood to click.

And lastly, where will you put your opt-in box? On a web page or blog, the top of the page is the best place. But with a squeeze page, you want people to see the benefit of opting in, right? So, the box should go below the bullet points. Keeping all of it above the fold (so people don't have to scroll down to see it) is another good idea. Internet marketing people don't have a lot of time, so they'll scan and if they have to scroll down very much, they might leave. Putting your opt-in box where they can see all the information and what they're getting is a good idea. If you have too much information in the body of your squeeze page and are handy with HTML, you could use a table and put the bullet points and opt-in box in two columns. That way, you'll keep the opt-in box above the fold.

All of these elements are important to your Internet marketing business, whether you realized it or not. The Internet marketing world is filled with squeeze pages, good and bad, and if you want people to opt into your list, make sure yours is a good one. Never ask for more information than you need, give people a strong call to action, and place the opt-in box where people can see it. You'll be amazed at how your opt-in rates soar.
