House owners are always looking for ways to keep their homes presentable. However, it is not always easy. Though there are several ways of insuring that those unreachable spots, such as corners, ceilings, and tiles, are kept spotless, many fail to realize the importance of cleaning these areas on a regular basis.

Let’s start with basic bathroom tiling. Potentially a germ-infested location, the bathroom provides shelter to some of the most unwanted pollutants that one could imagine – including mildew. So, how can one prevent the build up of this unwanted substance? Experts tell us that mildew can be easily removed by applying a dilute solution of chlorine bleach in water. Since bathrooms serve as a safe haven for mildew, it is important to check in corners, closets, and any other areas that usually go unnoticed. In some cases, dark stains can develop in showers, and considering that these are usually the wettest locations in the household; the development of bacteria in these areas is not surprising. For the most part, this stain is a combination of body oils and soap residue that has accumulated over time. While there are several shower cleaning products on the market, it is said that laundry detergent is the most efficient solution to the problem. It is recommended that the detergent is applied to the darkish areas and then scrubbed off after a two-hour period. With the amount of time that is spent in the bathroom, it is crucial to make sure that it is cleaned frequently.

Evidently, mildew poses a health threat to those who contract it. Not only is it found in bathrooms, but the clothes that you wear each day may also contain mildew spores. Surprisingly, mildew is capable of eating away and ruining certain fabrics. The old tradition of drying clothes outside may seem a bit outdated, but it is definitely recommended that mildew-infested fabrics be shaken outside. After all, you do not want to the spores to spread throughout your own household. If mildew stains remain on the article of clothing, wash it with detergent immediately. After that, try to avoid using the dryer and let the clothes catch some sun rays instead.

Next to the everyday items and locations that we may consider unclean, carpets and rugs are probably the most common areas requiring attention. To ensure that you maximize your rug’s life, it is important to keep it in a dry area. The moisture that can develop in certain wet locations can cause a fiber rug to deteriorate. In addition, it should be noted that natural fiber rugs are anti-static, meaning that they do not attract much dirt in the first place. Taking advantage of the brush attachment on your vacuum is definitely one of the best approaches to keeping your rug dirt free. If you do feel the need to wash it, then use regular detergent and water (obviously outside of the house). Afterwards, rinse the rug with a hose and let it dry in the sun.

Evidently, there are a number of ways to keep your household clean and comfortable. Whilst some areas of a home are bypassed when it comes to cleaning, it does not mean that they cannot get dirty or develop bacteria. By taking the appropriate measures mentioned above or employing a professional home cleaning service you will provide a healthier living environment for everyone in your home.
