It’s not just the Christmas season that inspires a need to get out into the traffic and crowds where we rush from place to place to fulfill a list of special gifts. It seems like there is no end to official holidays or special occasions that bring about the need to ramble the streets or advertisements searching every business for the ultimate goal of obtaining the optimum savings for a gift well appreciated.

Banner shopping isn’t something that is naturally considered enjoyable. These banners flash across the top, side or middle of an Internet page of interest. Banner pop ups or pop unders distract, block and can even become annoying when an attempt is made to exit a web page. It is hard to imagine anyone whom particularly cares for the unsolicited flash and dazzle of sometimes overly persistent, force fed solicitation in the form of nothing less than (when not asked for) junk mail.

But let’s be fair as well. Some banner displays are unobtrusive and actually are relative to our search efforts. We actually click on them and are redirected to a site we may not have discovered on our own or, simply wouldn’t have thought of. When this happens, it is really a lot like finding that diamond in the rough.

Banners actually can be a source of buried treasure. The interest, effort and redirection come in many forms of rewards. For example the search of many sites can bring one to a sale where savings from 10% up to 70% or better can be realized. A coupon code typed in at the checkout center can bring great discounts and perhaps an added free gift. One can discover free shipping, gift-wrapping, buy one – get one free specials, even greater savings on the next visit and a whole boatload of other cost savings benefits.

But before we go on, let’s dispel at least one fallacy about banner shopping. Yes, often time’s banners appear on web sites and are a direct result of an affiliate attempting to offer something relative and at the same time, earn some level of commission. This does not mean that because there is a commission, the consumer will pay more for any given product. Affiliate commissions are a given sum paid out to the referrer from manufacture’s inbuilt profit margins. All businesses make profits sale or no sale.

So why not do banner shopping? You don’t have to buy online if this is not your normal course of shopping expertise. However, that option is there as almost all sites have secure processing and payment pages to keep personal and credit information secure. This is readily noticeable when the browser displays a web address starting in https, there is a hacker friendly symbol on a page or, the shopping cart/payment processing method is labeled and certified as secure.

The savvy shopper combines efforts. They search the sale and discount incentives by clicking on their favorite brick and mortar storefront banners found here and there all over the Internet. They find the best deals from the comfort of their computer chair thus avoiding the upfront push and shove throngs of people, aching foot traffic, parking lot available space explorations, road way and road rage tangles, weather hassles and every other possible delay or headache associated with efforts to secure time savings, energy and money. Once the options are searched and treasures discovered, your two courses of action still remain in place. Use the store’s secure Internet shopping cart or, get out into the human race and make a beeline straight to the brick and mortar storefront. The bottom line is, you know before you go or complete the transaction, where the ultimate best savings are. All because of savvy banner interactions and good note taking efforts.
