Biddeford is one of the oldest established communities in southern Maine. Originally, it was founded as a textile center however, as science and technology progressed areas such as this saw a decline in population due to the loss of jobs. These small communities, with their older buildings and elegant architecture as well as the feel that comes with a small community lends it self to be the perfect haunt for a variety of artists. This is not only an opportunity to find the perfect spot for an art studio, or gallery but it also gives itself over to investment potentials. Many artists prefer to rent, depending on what they are doing, they may only be in an area for a short amount of time. Purchasing up studios and smaller residential locations or purchasing larger locations and converting them can provide an excellent money making opportunity. Maine is one of the best locations for writer and artist retreats. These are locations, which are rented for a short period of time to provide inspiration or relaxation for artists of all types.
