The New Year is a time to analyze past behaviors to see which ones have worked in which ones have been problematic. It's a time to set goals and change behaviors that aren't working for you. This article will show you how to set achievable weight loss goals for the New Year.

The Desire to Lose Weight

Weight loss is a resolution that tops many peoples list of goals for the new year. Maybe had a stressful year and put on a lot of weight, maybe you put on a few extra pounds of the holidays or perhaps he did very well last year in their diet and your goal is to continue with the progress that's year. Wherever you are on the scale, you have the desire to lose weight and you need specific goals to help you get there.

Tips for setting achievable weight loss goals:

* Set clear, specific goals. Don't be vague and say that you want to lose 50 pounds this year. Make your goals about how we were going to lose the weight. For example, your goal could be to walk 3 miles six days a week and do resistance training twice a week.

* Make your weight loss goals personal. If your goal is important to you, you are more likely to follow through with it and achieve success. Conversely, to set your goals or to someone else's standards, they won't mean much to you and will likely be pushed aside in the first few weeks of the New Year.

* Don't create goals that you could never live up to. If your goal is to give up the complete food group or to do two hours of cardio a day, you're likely setting yourself up for failure break from the beginning.

* Write your goals down. It's a good idea to check your weight loss goals in a journal and be able to look back on them and track your progress.

Achieving Your Weight Loss Goals

Once you set clear weight loss goals for the New Year, you'll need to stay accountable for your behaviors. Holding yourself accountable is difficult. Try turning up at the weight loss Buddy, using your spouse or another family member for support or joining a local support group to hold you accountable for your new healthy behaviors.

To achieve your weight loss goals, you'll need to be consistent at working out and making healthier food choices. You'll need to throw your book of excuses and commit to improving your health and rebuilding your life.

Celebrate Your Success in the New Year

Losing weight is a challenge. As with any challenge, there needs to be some type of her award. Don't let your successes followed for the wayside. Reward yourself for meeting your goals and for sticking to healthy habits. Give yourself a pat on the back; choose small gifts you'll reward yourself with or buy yourself something that will support your new healthy lifestyle.
