Located only few Miles Northwest of Geraldine Alabama is High Falls Park. Located on town creek it has a 25 foot span and height of 35 feet. It has a natural Arch that is a famous meeting place for locals and a beautiful place to visit. If you visit after springs showers the water can be awesome high so be sure to bring your camera!

High Falls is part of the Dekalb county Alabama Park System and is located off of 227. During the winter the water level can get super high and is an awesome site from up above. During the summer the water can get down to a Trickle and the fall foliage can be breath-taken.

There are many things to do including hiking, swimming, Picnicking, kayaking, and just watching the water flow! There is also a little play area for kids! It is really one of the neatest waterfalls I have ever seen and is a great place to visit anytime of the year!

I have hiked up and downstream and have had the opportunity to see wild turkeys playing on the creek. Hiking up creek is pretty easy and hiking down creek can be a challenge be sure to bring some good hiking boots with you! Also be prepared to hike near some high cliff!

You will see a bridge that was originally build in 1923 by locals to cross the creek. The bridge was burnt by vandals and recently rebuilt in 1996 for foot traffic only. There is an old rope that marks the spot where they used to baptize people in the early 1900's. The Falls was a social gathering spot for parties and families in the early 1800's!

High Falls is the start of some class III rapids that is some of the nicest in the state of Alabama. It is a journey of 5.8 miles that winds through cliffs laced with a cave or two all the way down to Guntersville backwater. It is a very beautiful place and is managed by the county. They will greet you when you pull in and the hike down to the falls isn't very far.

There are many cools places to check out nearby. You have Lake Guntersville, Buck's pocket, Griffin falls, Little River Canyon, Little Rock City all within a small drive! It is really is an awesome place to visit. You can also camp at Buck's Pocket or Guntersville!

If you are looking for a tranquil and peaceful place to spend a wonderful afternoon you can't go wrong with High Falls. High Falls is awesome year around! Just follow 227 from Geraldine and when you get to Mt.Pleasant Church take a left and it is a a few miles back on the forks of the creek. On 227 you will pass town creek, be sure to stop and check out Long Falls (never heard a tech name for it). It is also a very pretty area of the creek! It has a long downward falls that looks to spans an area maybe 60-75 feet in length. Really awesome area just up from High Falls. High Falls is open from 10am till 6pm and has a locked gate also!
