Well, it’s that time of year…

You’re setting your goals, making resolutions, checking your list of 2007 accomplishments, deciding what you want for your life and career in 2008.

Regardless of the time of year, I’d like you to set an intention, also known as “deciding”, that this will be your year, your time and your career. In order to create and sustain this intention, let’s look at each component and how it can serve you.

Your year, provides you with an opportunity to start anew. It is easier to track your progress when you have a fresh year and month to start. Looking at monthly or quarterly milestones or checkpoints gives you a logical break to see where you started, where you are and how far to the next step. So create “your year” plan. What would you like to see in your life/career each month, each quarter? How will you know when you have it? Are you willing to reflect, adjust and continue to the next checkpoint? Remember…it’s your intention for 2008 to be Your Year!

Your time, is so precious. There are so many things pulling your attention and interest. So you have to make choices – all the time. What’s your criterion for how you invest your time? If you don’t have any, it may explain why you never seem to have enough. Why not look at each decision you make about where to spend your time based on how good it makes you feel? When you feel good about where your time is spent, no matter what you’re doing, it’s of incredible value to you and your well being. You’ll learn more, you’ll grow more and it’s what you’ll look back on and smile. Remember, at the end of your time on the planet, you’ll remember the way you felt more than what you did.

Your career, is in your hands. A lot of change is happening around all of us in business. The demographics are changing, the business models are changing, the opportunities are shifting dramatically. Look at where the jobs are in the future…healthcare vs. high tech. Managers are being asked to lead and do – at the same time! In all fairness, how can they do both well, at the same time? As a result, your career is now your responsibility! And it’s about time! Now you can set the rate and pace of your career success! Who do you want to be? What would you enjoy doing? When do you want to start? How about now??!!

Be sure to checkout the amazing resources available to you at this time of year? More organizations, coaches, leaders are creating special reports, articles assessments designed to help you get off to a great start in 2008. Take advantage of all of these offerings – especially the free ones! Use them to energize and inspire you to your highest level of joy in your life and career!

It’s your year, your time, your career and it’s ALL yours! Make it the best it can be!
