A 27-year-old honcho married to a 52-year-old grandma causes a lot of stir and invites unwanted dire predictions. This type of relationship will never last, according to skeptics. But the reality is young men can fall for "old mommas".

This is not unusual anymore. People have long accepted that love is indeed strange. But then, women in their fifties today are sexy, sultry, and are in better shape than the women of 20 years ago. They take care of their bodies, their skin, and overall health.

A 56-year-old woman with a flat belly, sexy legs, and luxuriant hair can always give the younger ones insecurities. Now who wouldn't fall for the seduction of women with experience, savvy, and the understanding of the ways of men?

Loving an older woman is one thing, while staying married is another. Won't tastes clash? Will the Beatles survive hip-hop? Most likely, it will, if the couple is broad-minded and work hard to maintain the relationship. But the key to any relationship, whether one is older or not, is mutual respect and the enjoyment of each other's company.

If You're The Woman and The Older Mate

Just because you are the woman and the older one in the relationship, it doesn't mean you must not treat or buy him the nice gifts for men you see in the trendiest men's shop. It does not also augur well for the union, if you keep on acting like the boss and not listen to his views.

Like the "normal" or accepted relationships, you should compromise. You can't expect to understand everything in his culture and he, yours. If you can't stand rap and if he can't take the Beatles' songs spinning all day or night, you'll have to confront the issue. It does get on the nerves if you keep on listening to the same Beatles' songs or rap all day. Something has to give in.

No, don't act like his mom. You're his partner and equal. It's not your job to pick up his socks, towels, and whatever he carelessly drops on the floor. Spoiling your man just because you're the one who's older won't do both of you any good. He'll expect you to do everything, so better put your cards on the table on the very first day. Insist that both of you have to shoulder half of the housework.

Happy couples in this kind of setup have endured and survived the skepticism of cynics. There'll be some failed relationships, but this happens too in the standard or "normal" arrangement. It's mind boggling that young men actually go crazy over older women.

It’s a case of mind over matter, not a matter of the heart. Hence, the Beatles and rap will mix and May gents and December ladies will continue to find long-lasting love.
