Marketing your products and services is one of the most valuable tools you can have to help you increase your sales. When promoting your business you need to have four factors to be successful: attract the attention of your target audience, stir up their interest, and kindle the desire to have your product, and finally get them to act on your offer.

Nevertheless, as a business owner, you often find yourself with a marketing campaign - even when you know you’ve employed a good one - that just doesn’t accomplish what you’ve set out to do. If truth be told, most of the time, your marketing strategy does not provide the results you want.

In order for you to really understand the strength of your marketing campaign, you need to understand two things: first is that marketing your business is power in itself. To be precise, advertising gives you power because it provides you with the opportunity to influence how people buy.

But you also have to realize that advertising fetch a high price. Marketing your business to your target audience requires money… lots of it.

If you’re a small business owner, this would be an issue for you especially if you’re operating on a very limited budget. You’d probably wonder how a meager amount of money can help you successfully launch a marketing campaign that would be effective, enough to attract even half of your target market.

Let’s take for example your marketing collateral. Your choice of whether to employ full color printing or just the standard one can greatly influence the way your target clients would perceive and accept your offer.

A full color printing method in your collaterals is often the best way to go because as studies have shown, color makes it possible for many people to have a more positive response to your advertisement. Color gives you the opportunity to attract as well as encourage your target clients to browse your marketing collateral and eventually to read and understand your message.

But full color printing is very costly. You have the paper to consider, the inks to be applied to your full color printing, and then the printing equipment that has to be set up; not to mention the operating costs of printing your marketing collateral.

So how do you decide on the best collateral that will work for you? The crucial decision you have to make is to select the most appropriate medium that can best convey your message, without having to deplete your meager budget.

Moreover, it has to work both ways: you have to consider your needs in addition to the needs of your target market. If color printing would work for you, then go for it. If you think TV ads can help you a great deal, then so be it.

The key to understanding what to choose as your marketing campaign strategy is to understand your needs first. When you have identified what you have and what you want to accomplish, then you’d be able to decide on the best marketing tactic that would be most suitable for your business.
